Should I rehome my bourkes?

2 Rosy Bourkes
I have 2 bourkes. My mother raised a male but didn't give it much attention so it doesn't like people. Recently he has become comfortable with me. He was not active and would sit by the window doing mostly nothing almost every day.

I got another bourke for it and the 2 are close. This younger female is more defensive and feels threatened when the male gets too close too fast. And the male has learned to also be defensive because of that. But they still follow each other around and interact.

The female was very young when I got her so she learned the daily from the male. The female still shows more curiosity and personality I think because I gave her a lot of attention. Still, most of the day she just hangs around the male and they do nothing.

Sometimes I play videos of bourkes singing for the male because he loves to sing along and try to find what he thinks are new birds in the house. He's really animated and excited and I always feel bad when the video ends. The female rarely sings.

Anyway, I just feel bad keeping them around and want to find someone with an aviary so they can be happier with other bourkes. Any opinions?

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way!

It sounds like you’re doing everything you can but ultimately, if you feel like rehoming them is best, maybe it is.
Are there any aviaries near you that have bourkes?
