I have a 2-year-old Rosy Bouke named Khai, who is an absolute doll!! I know not to pet him on the back, under his wings, chest, etc., due to hormonal reasons. He does not like head scratches but loves to give kisses. We do this often, and I am cautious with the slavia and all as well. He will say, "Give me a kiss," among a lot of other words. I feel he is showing his love and affection. Am I wrong? I am definitely his flock and have been told he is one special Bourke. He also wants to know where I am and will call for me if he cannot see me or will come looking for me. He is the best!

Anyway, is giving and receiving kisses wrong with birds? I have heard that may be their way of showing affection seems to be Khai's

Usually, a kiss on top of the head is okay with birds. It does seem that Khai loves you to bits. As long as you avoid your lips and your saliva, you should be okay :) .

Sorry, thats a learned response. Birds do not 'kiss' in the same sense humans do. But it is sweet.

Thanks.....was thinking that cause he started it as soon as I got him from the breeder! He goes to anybody and the breeder said he was definitely a people bird, he was always wanting to be with her as opposed to her other Bourkes .
Is why I questioned getting another Bourke in a previous 🤔 post.

I never thought about lip on bird. She makes kissing, I do, if close I touch beak or head with finger.
