Silence when there should be sound..

Thank you so much. :( She sure was a special one, no living creature or object will be able to replace her. :( I am going to get a necklace made of her, as I know someone who makes custom bird necklaces, and I have a box of some of her feathers, so I will have have some keep sakes of her. </3

So sorry for your loss! My loss of Percy, my budgie from 1993-1999, still makes me miss him. I would have happily had that little bird forever. They are HUGE birds in tiny bodies. (My Percy was KING too! He had that larger than life way about him.) I don't know if this is any comfort to you but I always thought how many people buy budgies as just a "decoration" so to speak.....your bird got to have a real home, filled with love and appreciation of her life. Even though it hurts to lose her, the time you had together was so special.

Thats very true, many people buy budgies and just stick them in a cage and never really appreciate the huge birds in little bodies. I know she was very lucky. There is always something about budgies... In my life I have had a lot of pets, and some parrots too. But my very first pet was a budgie. I loved that little guy, I recently found a photo of him and teared up, after maybe 15 years or more. Its amazing the hold they can have over you!

I hope your feeling better today!!!! I dunno if you know that I have two budgies. I found them outside in a Sam's Club parking lot during winter. It was nice sunny warm day that day and it was like that for several days. I came out of Sam's Club purchasing stuffs for work and I heard chirp chirp, I said Parakeets? I looked down there they are both of them walking around on the pavement. I went to catch them and I was able to capture both of them. I held them while one of the ladies that saw me catch them was helping me putting the groceries in my work van while I had them in my hands. I looked at them, they were just babies around 4 months old. I thank the lady and got inside the van and I released them, they flew back and fourth inside the van, I'm just surprised they didn't do so while they were outside but I can feel their breast bones pretty good so I know they've been out for a bit and was very very thin. I called my partner and said guess what I just found outside, Parakeets! I told my partner to come and get them at my work since I couldn't keep them in the car or in my work place. Thank goodness my boss is very understanding on how I love animals, I told her I need to run to the pet shop real quick to buy them a cage to put them in and I bought them some food too. While I was driving back to my work it started to get dark and cold, they both flew to me and huddle against me for warmth. They stole my heart from that moment on. I put food in their food dish and fetch some water from my work to give them, they went straight to the food dish and started eating like no tomorrow. My partner came and picked them up to bring them home. I feel much better after that cause it turned freezing cold that night, they wouldn't of made it as thin as they were. They ate none stop and going through food like no tomorrow. They sleep a lot and was very quiet for days. Then one day, about a week later, they started chirping away. It made me very happy to hear them sing. After they were fattened up, they want nothing to do with me...lol....little turds....But I do catch them from the aviary off and on to check on them making sure they're ok. Plus I give them full bath in the sink and clip their nails when I need to. They NEVER bite me hard! And parakeets can give pretty nasty bites too....They've been with us for about 5 years and they're both boys.... They love to fly around and they love hanging with the Cockatiels! :)

I am so sorry for your loss... they are small birds but those lil budgies are such big spirits...

Thank goodness you rescued them, because it sounds like they wouldn't have made it the night! And its lucky they stayed together when they came from where ever they were! How sweet! Its really good that they don't bite hard either! Mini gave me some nasty bites >:( Much worse then Audrey ever has lol, I think because its more sharp where as audrey is more heavy pressure and crushing haha. And she always got me in the sensitive spots, like my eye lids or my lips lol :| Serves me right for kissing and snuggling her lol!
I've been doing a big house clean today and its amazing how many mini feathers I found. And thinking "How on earth did this get here..." it was sad but nice at the same time, i collected them all and put them into a box.

I am baby sitting a friends bird over the weekend and she's bringing him round in about 20 minutes to him used to the place. It will be interesting to see how I go. I feel so sad and like I can't be around other birds at the moment, but I already committed to watching him before Mini went :( Maybe it will be a good thing

Yea they wouldn't of made it through the night that night. Few days after that it started snowing and stuff, they definitely would of died from the cold.

I think it would be a good thing for you to watch another bird right now, it might help you with the grief process. I grief for a very very long time as nothing was gonna help me through mine, only time, the reason for it is because I handfed Cracker since he was a baby and had him for 7 years, then he passed in my arms. It shattered my heart in million pieces and my partner never see me break down and cry like that ever. No one has....It makes me tear up thinking about it right now....I don't handle loosing animals easily....

I don't either. I just don't handle grief in general, it really does turn me into a wreck. :( And at times I feel so silly because most people just don't understand and tell me "Its just a pet" I feel sorry for them though, they obviously don't know the love that animals can bring you. I held mini when she passed too. I knew she didn't have long when I saw her and I put her up to my face and and kissed her and held her there until she passed. :( Poor baby girl. Poor birdies. :(

Mikey, those budgies are so lucky that you found them. Kc, I'm a total wreck too, whenever I lose a pet. It's heartbreaking. They are family. After 17 years of being together, my husband finally understood that for me, losing a pet is the same as losing a human family member.

Its true though, they do become family members :( They are very special!

So very sorry for your loss :(

Thank you. :( Still miss her like crazy and wish she was still here with me.

Oh my heart is just breaking for you, I am so so sorry for your loss!!! (((HUGS)))

Thank you Taz <3

That was the hardest thing about losing Peety. The total complete silence of walking through that front door for the first time.

Budgies sure do love to chatter, it just becomes the wonderful norm we look forward to :)

That is very true, Mini was never ever quiet! :) I loved her little chatter and kisses.

In 45 years of keeping birds, I don't think there ever was a time that I did not have a few Budgies. My first bird was a Budgie. I have 4 of them now. Once, for a short time, I was guardian to 13 of them! Talk about chatter! They are big birds in tiny bodies. Their chatter is like children's laughter. It just makes you smile. I know you can't see it now, but, to honor Mini, someday, you'll have others. They won't replace her, but, being their guardian will honor Mini, as her legacy.
