Skeeters ??

I don’t know what is biting me but I’m having a bad reaction to it/them.
Starts out like a normal mosquito bite small red spot n itchy but doesn’t stay that way.

AI says it’s just I’m unusually sensitive to them (the skeeters) and it’s not likely any other kind of bug.

Am putting on cortisone creams and gives some relief from the itching but doesn’t help the swelling.

Got a couple of bug zappers on order.

I'm sorry the bugs are making a meal out of you, Wes, that looks really bad! Can you get pawpaw (papaya) ointment where you live? We swear by it here in Oz. I also keep a product called "Stingose" on standby, the active ingredient is aluminium sulphate, you may be able to get that under a different brad name, it's pretty good stuff too!

I’ve never heard of them but I’ll look.
OTC medicine over here in the states is limited to That doesn’t really work.
They want you to go to the Dr and get more expensive that may have a better chance of working but with long list of side effects.
Sorry this is one of those issues that really burns me up.

1 in 100,000 have a bad reaction to some OTC and they take it off the market or remove a key ingredient.
I depended on Actifed for allergies but some stupid people figured out how to make an illegal drug from a key ingredient and now it’s completely off the market.
None of the other OTC antihistamines do anything but wast money.
Sorry. I’ll get of my soapbox now.

This is the pawpaw ointment I use, I believe it is available in the States, it works on literally everything from minor burns to chapped lips to insect bites. And it's proudly made right here in Brisbane

Have you tried vinegar? It might help with the swelling. It's an old folk trick up here that's worked for me.

I've seen reactions like that. Unfortunately as stated the inventive illegal drug market removed things that worked of the market. Go to one old stand by. Baking soda mixed in a cool water paste. It can help skin swellings.

I have this……family recipe brought over from Germany.
It’s a salve that has worked on everything from skinned knees to infected cuts and slivers.
But.
The only way to use it is to put a bandaid on every bite with a dab of the …..secret medicine. Smells like champfer (I’m sorry I don’t know the spelling) (CAM-FIR) and is the consistency of soft wax.
1 or 2 bites ok but I’ve gone past 7 and now I got one ….. near a delicate part of the anatomy.

I used an ice pack on the worst one and overnight I wrapped it with the self adhesive bandage and cortisone. Swelling is down but it’s as red as a .

If this is from mosquitoes I’d like to know why I suddenly have such a bad reaction.
I was always one of those people that could sit outside and get 3 bites when the person next to me gets eaten alive.

We have been seeing those microscopic ants (kitchen only). I think they are what we always called piss ants cuz they were frequently found in the bathroom.
I can’t see THEM (pun intended) as being the culprit.

I was thinking maybe they are midges tiny hard to see (impossible). They're behavior is similar to mosquitoes. They have vicious bites guaranteed to cause some kind of nasty reaction. On the farm above the ankle flying no see ums, below ankle grass no see ums for chiggers. The big difference is the reactions. I haven't been to the family farm in decades. I vaguely remember that mosquito type repellent may not work. Ask an allergy specialist cause topical and routines won't work if you're that sensitive. There's several hundred types, grass, air, tree, near water, earth etc. Find anything that will draw them. Your bug zapper will work if the species of midge is susceptible to it. So it's a good try.

Ugh, that looks miserable. I second the possibility of midges ( also called buffalo gnats or black flies where I live). Some people react worse to them than mosquitoes. They love hot, humid weather. We use Buggins spray to help keep them off of us. Have you tried hydrocortisone cream on the bites? It can be bought otc and might help with both the swelling and itch. I know it was a life-saver for me when I got a nasty case of chiggers a few years ago.
