I've been doing this for a very very long time but in the recent years I've lost a few to unknown symptoms but I figured it was the parents that was doing a bad job as it is always their babies I lose. But after losing EggBert, one of their babies, I found out what killed him, he ate wood chips(bedding) that I've been using for many many years but never had this happen until the babies from this very pair that eats them exclusively. I don't know how is this pair's babies different but they would eat crap they shouldn't eat. In the picture you'll see I started laying newspaper down as I remember how much I don't like using paper towels after trying it out again for almost a week and I wasn't liking it. I just changed the newspaper not very long before this picture and they already made a mess. I also caught EggBert's Albino sister eating junk that I had to flush out of her crop on a daily basis, she's been eating dried poo. As I can't watch them 24/7 so I can't always be there to clean the newspaper constantly as I change it constantly. But she finds a way to eat them. Thanks to little EggBert that solved the mystery as poo is easier to flush out then wood chips. I've been flushing her crops daily ever since she was younger, she does it when the crop is almost empty. She's been gaining weight consistently and healthy, just need her crop flushed out daily. I can't wait until she's old enough to move into a cage with a grate where she can't reach those stuffs....Crazy babies....
There's 6 chicks in here and two more moving in tomorrow as the older ones are about to move into a cage in about another week. Then once everyone moves into a cage, time to disinfect the tank completely....Cleaning after them never ends.....
