Hello,

My parrot Maggy was sitting on the bathroom door when i pushed it closed. I don't remember how hard I pushed it but it bounced back open and she flew away in pain. I have soaked it briefly in warm salt water once or twice a day over the last 3 days since it happened. Should I take her to the vet? Is there anything else I need to do?

Keep an eye out for infection. Keep her perches spotlessly clean. Not much more you can do.

In the future, ALWAYS know where your parrot is when she is out of the cage. These types of injuries are not uncommon in parrots given free reign of the house.

Ouch! It HURTS to slam your foot in a door, poor thing! But dont feel too bad-accidents happen. She will probably heal okay. Does she have a band on that leg? If so, watch even more carefully for swelling of the foot or ankle. If theres a lot of swelling even temporarily the band can get too tight and cut off the circulation. The band would need immediate removal to save to foot. If no band, far less concern about this issue.
