Double yellow headed parrot
I have a 35-year-old double yellow headed parrot that just recently his tail feathers are turning lighter. Any ideas why these would turn the lighter color all of a sudden

Beautiful bird! I’m not an Amazon owner, but for many parrots a change in feathers can indicate a dietary deficiency. It looks like your Amazon gets plenty of sun so that’s great 🙂. What is his diet like?

From what I can find yellow tail tips are a characteristic of double yellow headed Amazon's.

As stated above, DYHA commonly have the last third of their tail feathers a yellowish green.

Also, feather colors rarely change rapidly, more commonly they fade in color or develop bars either can be caused by stress or diet issues.

General appearance looks good.

If the diet is high in Sunflower seeds they need to be vasty reduced.

Any chance that the bottom of the feathers are becoming lighter in color? This can happen if those feathers are being dragged.
