Has anyone ever seen something like this before on a conure beak:

This is Kylo, she is one of two black capped conures we adopted. You can see on each side of her beak that she has those sharp points sticking out. Her sister, Nemo, does not have these. Both were adopted at the same time and hand fed the same way. I’ve hand fed many babies before but this is first time I have seen this. She is weaned now, and feeds herself without issue. She also chews and plays with toys without issue. Her sister, Nemo, is the one I posted that is missing 2/3 of her wing on one side. She also is weaned and eats and plays normally.

Any advice? Birds weight is maintained and now health issues to report.

Also here is a picture of our conure family, on a play gym I built from instructions from instructables. I made some mods to it to fit the conures better.

Across the top left to right:
Rainbow- yellow sided green cheek conure
Summer - pineapple green cheek conure
Nemo - black capped conure
Kylo - black capped conure. She’s wet because she took a bath after getting pooped on.

Down below:
River - turquoise green cheek conure

I would take her to a certified avian vet to have them dremeled down. Is her beak intact in the middle?

Clark needs her lower beak trimmed at times as well because her jaw is slightly off, no fangs but I or vet need to trim to keep it more centerline.

either way its manageable if they can eat ok.

I was wondering that too-- what does the bottom look like? You don't want those strange side-shoots growing too long and getting their own blood supply...not sure what would cause that, but a CAV could help.

Cool basketball setup BTW!

Her beak in the middle is completely normal. These seem to be those baby "flares" that baby parrots have, and they just haven't worn down like her sisters did. The bottom beak is completely normal. She doesn't have any problems eating.

We are watching them, and the whole family probably will go in for a wellness visit soon.

I have a 22 year old male eclectus, and his top beak has always needed to be trimmed since he barely chews on his toys.
