We found a sun conure!!!

Yes please do, you should be celebrating right now, add guy to your bird list and make it official! ;)
Sigh.....I'll let boyfriend decide that. Maybe its time he get a bird that he can call "his"...

I have been reading this board for a while now. Just registered after reading your post about the sun conure. I have a Precious little green cheek who is simply spoiled rotten. He does everything with us from showering together to eating at the table with us. I have often thought of a sun conure as well. I live in Texas don't know where you are but I might be interested in him if he needs a home. He sounds like quite a little charactar.
I am sure he was so thankful to be in the house again bless his little heart. I don't know what I would do if I lost my little baby. That precious little girl it must have been so hard for her to save his life by setting him free. Hopefully you will decide to keep him but if you don't I just might be willing to take him. My baby is so spoiled I just hope he would warm up to him. He lives almost cage free most of the time but has a huge cage when he needs it. I also have a second large cage that I purchased because I had been considering getting a sun. So cage and toy wise I am set.
What ever you decide please let me know.

Im thinking about it especially since I read the e-mail to my boyfriend when he came home and he immediatly started crying and ran to the bedroom. i wondered what he was doing so i followed and he was trying to pic guy up, he wouldnt let him so he just picked up the whole cage and hugged it. ... Hes still crying and talking to him and guy is singing to him. Its cute.

I'm in tears.... I cannot imagine that poor child and what they had to go through, let alone that poor bird. I guess my assumption that he did have a good owner at some point was correct; a child with a horrible father. I can pretty much guess how the situation went and the fact that she said that the bird sings songs from a baby cd makes the "Row Row Row Your Boat" song logical for him to sing :( That's just awful!!

I don't have any advice to give you and can only offer my support via the board :( Good luck. Maybe your boyfriend will let you keep him after all, especially if he's hugging Guy's cage.

Thank you, we are still deciding what we should do. I think we will keep all options open for the time being and see how things go when we get Baby Bongo home. I feel like everyone else, he flew to me for a reason, but if I cannot give him the BEST home then the BEST is where he needs to be.

I too am in tears over this poor little Sun Conure!!! I am just so glad he found you!!! Good luck with figuring out what is best for you and the little guy. If you can't keep him, and you can't find a wonderful home, maybe I could take him. I am conure crazy!! I have 3 already. I am home all day, and all my fids have open cages so that they can get out whenever they want (except for bed time). They are very spoiled!! Although I did promise my hubby that my flock was complete. But I am sure if he knew this little guys story and needed a great home he would reconsider that. I am sure you will make him a good home if that is what you decide is best too. And if you decide it is too much for you, I am sure you will make sure he gets a wonderful home. He did fly into your home for a reason! Like I said before I am so glad he found you!!!

AND IT MAY BE A GOOD THING I CANT RESPOND!
Im completley devistated and cannot stop crying.

This made me tear up. That poor girl. My dad got bit by Sully and he slammed a bowl against his cage, it hurt Sully's foot but not bad. My dad also smacks Sully's cage when he tries to bite him. My dad is no longer aloud in my room. My baby gcc scream at night and my dad keeps yelling at them to shut up. I know how she feels, she did what she had to do

That email address is a yahoo email. If the box is full it would be rejected. She just needs to empty the mailbox. That little girl surely must be the owner of Guy. Wish she had mentioned where she lives. It would be interesting to know how far he went from home.

I knew I shouldn't have read this before bed. I'm crying now. Thankyou Cliffordsmom for taking him on and whatever you decide to do I know it's with Guy's best interests at heart.

Let us know how the vet check goes and what you decide. Love to you all xx

Yes Cliffordsmom, it's hard to believe but I do have 3 conures, and an African Grey and my son has a Blue fronted Amazon that lives with us for now. So it can get a little loud with the conures at times for sure. But mine are not always noisy. They are in the morning, and again at night for a while. But the rest of the time they are for the most part pretty good. But they definitely have a very loud scream when they want to scream as you know. It's kinda funny, I guess I am just use to it. When my daughter from Connecticut comes to visit she will say to me "how do you handle the noise?" and I'm like "oh, I didn't even notice that they were yelling." Maybe I am now deaf! (LoL) But I just love my babies (even if they can be loud). They have the sweetest personalities ever!!! They know tricks and are so smart! Anyway I guess The pro's outway the con's on conures for me. But I can see how it could definitely be a problem for some people. Luckily I also have a bird room, so that helps too. Is your Clifford noisy all the time?

Be happy your birds are screaming, mine has had a mistery illness since February and hardly screams for me. The house is so quiet...
signed, sad mommy trying to nurse her baby to good health :(

She doesn't want to post it on craigslist because of all the horrible people on there, she wants him to go to a good family.
And welcome to the forum.

FYI to CM From personal experience I learned that conures to not live very well with greys. Conures are aggressive little jealous darlings that like to be the only child or with others of same species. Little Cricket I used to have was so jealous of Rosie, my grey, that he was attacking her every chance he got. They could not be out of the cage at the same time. Little conue ended up with two severe head injuries that almost cost him his life.

Not all the time, he has some seperation issues....its not too much to handle, till Guy came a long. Since he is in another toom, they call each other all.day.long. Im sure it will be better when they can be in the same room

Clifford has been to the breeders with me to meet the baby grey. for now the will not be out of the cage at the same time and we have taken precautions to make sure one cannot climb on the others cage. we will work with them however to try and help them get a long. Neither bird will be hurt i promise. A lot of thought goes into something like this, and I would never ever purchase any animal without knowing what could or could not happen, I would take this precaution weather i has a sun and a grey, or two greys, I took this step when I got another Dog too. Its just safer

Is he missing a toe? I had an abusive husband and I had gotten a goffin, he was very angry about the bird's screaming. He threatened to kill the bird, and I literally had to protect the bird with my body. I know it sounds melodramatic but its true. I found her a new home immediately because I knew he would kill her. If this little girl had no way to get help then I can understand her letting him go. Its a terrible situation.

I too survived an abusive husband. He would scream at the dogs but he didn't dare go near him. He could beat me & strangle me all he wanted but if he went near my kids or pets he knew I would kill him. It's not melodramatic. I know exactly how you felt. It's strange to offer your body to protect someone or something else but not be willing to pick up & phone & dial 3 little numbers to protect your own life. I'm very glad that you are a survivor & finally had the strength to leave. God bless you. PS. PM me anytime if you need to vent about more personal things.

If my Jenday and Sun Conure are seperated for any reason, they will call each other too. I am positive it will be better for you when they can be in the same room. Mine just love each other and hate to be seperated! You might find that Clifford really loves having a friend!

No offense intended, but could it possibly be your particular conure? And not necessarily a Conure/Grey Combo but more about the personality of the birds you had/have? I've heard others say how their different species birds (so many varieties that it's rare to get the exact same combo all the time) get along great (big/big, little/little, little/big) and others how none of their fid's get along at all. I think it's more personality, but that's just my opinion.
