Someone posted on this forum about giving their bird a dandelion flower, and everybody said the were good for birds.
My flock is very reluctant to eat the veggies, so I didn't have much hope when giving them some dandelion flowers and leaves which we had in abundance in our backyard. To my surprise, they absolutely loved them, even the cockatiel who doesn't almost touch any "green" food! They were sort of edible preening toys. :) I started adding dandelions to our own fresh salads as well, and now it seems like there is not enough of them out there! :D So weeds turned into yummy treats for both birds and humans! LOL

Dandelions, oh do I miss them, can't grow them this far south! Some folks cook em with bacon, but I love bitter food! Steamed and a bit of butter! Biggest issue is getting all the sand out.

Crunch, crunch...crunch....

You can purchase dandelions at the Asian Super Market. Yup, dandelions are commercially grown! A lot of Koreans lov'em!

My yard is covered with em every year. They are my favorite flower!

Today I uprooted a few plants with plenty of flowers (washed the roots of course), and they ate all the flowers! :) They just keep chewing them all the time. I'm too lazy to pick them every day, but whenever I do there is a feast. :D
