Hi guys i made this account specifically to post on this question on this forum for my orange winged amazon. His name is Scooter! He loses a flight feather every so often and I’ve been keeping them because why not! But he has this weird feather I’ve noticed on his right wing and he lost it once before and i was a bit relieved so i put it out of my mind. Until it started growing back the same exact weird way. He just lost it again a few minutes ago when he flew to his cage but this time there was the tiniest amount of blood on the tip. It is the only feather I’ve noticed that looks like this. I will attach pictures below compared to a regular flight feather he’s lost. It’s pretty obvious which one is the weird one. I’m a little worried so i hope someone who is more experienced in parrots will help me figure this out. I got Scooter a while ago and I’ve been doing my best to be a good bird momma. Thank you guys!

To me, it looks like a prematurely-pulled or accidentally-knocked-out feather, which wouldn't worry me much, but I'm not an expert, so let's see what others say.

Fully agree with my good friend regarding this being a young feather that was "prematurely-pulled or accidentally-knocked-out."

Noodles had a few like this, but the vet did recommend PBFD testing at some point (after there were 3 or so abnormal feathers within a 1 year period). It was negative, but I am just sharing my experience-- if you see 2 or 3, consider testing. If not, its normal (in all likelihood)- it was for Noodles, anyway (no health issues these days).
