There are these 2 galahs, that are at the stables EVERY afternoon...

There is a flock of them i see during the day, but there is always just 2 who are at the stable each evening, so i am fairly sure they are the same ones..

I sat and took pictures of them this evening, they are so sweet looking :p

It looks like one has red eyes and one has black eyes?

And why does it look so plump? :o

Wish my Dominic looked as healthy as these guys are! Great photos Tab!

Need to feed Dominic some grubs and bugs in the dirt ;) hahaha

Thanks! I tried to get them flying but they were too fast for my poor photo skills

Many galahs can be sexed by their eyes: red for girls, black for boys. They seem to vary quite a bit in bulkiness, although one of these two is a real bruiser!

I'm so jealous of you Aussies when it comes to garden wildlife - we just get feral pigeons and magpies round these parts.

Ohhh really! Well i think it is the male who is the bigger one then! He really looks overweight hahaha

Must be lots of yummy food at the moment :p

Oh i love these little rosellas we have, or parakeets of some kind.. Really need to get a picture of them, but they are too quick haha

About 30km away from us has the big white cockatoos, but they dont come out this far, thank god, they scream sooo much :o

At least the galahs are pretty quiet, they make that sweet kind of call! :)

Yes, he's a real porker that one. I'm think, gee, he's fat, going down the photos, and then I see the question "why is he so plump?" :D great minds think alike. I suppose they could eat a lot of nuts if there were nuts available.

Awww!! Look at those two!! And that one is so plump!!! I wish chili were that plump lol

Aww thats so cute i so wish i could see wild parrots like that outside my house!!

Thank you for posting Tab,
How cool to see them without cages near by!
They almost look like chickens.........looking for whatever they can find in the grass......

Haha :D

We dont have any type of nuts around these areas, but we have alot of farms which grow barley and oats, and i assume lots of sunflowers..

So they probably get to have huge feasts :o hehe

It has been raining ALOT the past 2 weeks, so the grass is getting greener, and i guess lots of bugs and worms would be coming out in the mud?

Obviously mister tubby is taking full advantage of it ;) Might have to have a chat to him about exercising with his wife a bit more :p hahahaha

I sooooo want to see them in person out in the wild like that. One day perhaps.....I wish that was my backyard....

Must be cool to see parrots just roaming around. At best I see crows and sparrows. :/

I am so envious of where you live Tab, I think I'd be outside more than in, just watching all the wildlife, and snapping photos....beautiful birds :)

Oh and now there are kookaburras outside laughing.. hahahaha For some reason they always laugh when i am out riding ;)

It's interesting, i have basically had galahs in my backyard my whole life, so it just seems normal to me? :o

Where as everyone else is like- wow!!! hahaha

I need to go to town one evening when the MASSIVE flock of lorikeets is flying about, it's insane how many there are!!

HAHA Shirre, i think it is time to go outside and dig for some grubs for Chili's dinner ;)

You will probably find that he is not actually eating the grubs. It may look like it but they dig up the root of the plant where there is a little onion type seed. My guy now has about 4 friends that come into to feed with him on the lawn every day. I always thought they were monogamous but thier is one that comes and visits and kisses with him and will at other times bring her partner back. Naughty girl.
