my sun conure's first day home was spent out of his cage (due to a newly discovered faulty cage, which wasn't how we intended his first day would be spent. i am fairly sure that in some weird way this instilled a strong sense of boundaries, as his first week had him living on a play stand, where as our other bird who didn't have a shonky cage lived doesn't seem to understand the concept of his play stand. on the topic of convincning parents, I'm not sure about the essay, I mean maybe if you find you have trouble communicating with your parents verbally, it might be a good idea, but think the best way is to have a discussion, listen to their concerns explain your feelings and go from there. i was lucky my parents were the one telling me to get a bird, it was actually for my 20th birthday, and (yes i still live at home, but i am very independent and i'm studying and my parents have an epic house and no real urge to kick me out, so i stay) anyway a few weeks before i got my sun conure i had been told i had a rather serious health condition and quiet possibly wouldn't live for a whole heap of time anyway, my parents thought a bird that would live for thirty years was a fantastic idea, i guess in the hope that i would to, which probably is the worst reason to get a bird but anyway not dying any more and it totally makes a great side story to how i got a sun conure. also i done a lot of research before decided i wanted a sun conure
