Pico, gender unknown, is a hand-fed Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conure, born 2015.
We just read about T00tsyd's GC Syd freaking out when he can see pics of red flowers.
Rather than threadjacking, I though I'd start this thread for everyone to post their experiences.

Pico goes bonkers screaming every time I sharpen a kitchen knife with my round ceramic rod.
If he could fly I'm certain he'd attack it.

The second I stop he's calm and back to normal.

Bowie and my Quaker Lita HATE any guitars. Period. It can sit in the stand or hang on the wall and there is no issue at all, but as soon as I pick up any of my guitars they go crazy, screaming and flying frantically all over the place...You'd think I beat them with a guitar all the time...

Kiwi enters amazon death mode if I’m not wearing glasses. Mind you, he has no obvious preference what frames I wear or if they’re regular or sunglasses even, but dare I not have them on, my sweet boy instantaneously turns into a demon who very likely would amputate a finger or take a chunk of flesh if given the opportunity. I cannot even begin to fathom what his deal is. He doesn’t care about any other type of clothing or accessory on anyone but me, and then only glasses and only if *I* am or am not wearing them.

My DYH, Bo, is terrified of strawberries. If they're cut up in his chop, he actually loves eating them, they're gone everytime. However, show him a whole fresh strawberry, and it is an Amazon killer. Even a tiny one. He was on my shoulder one day and I got a few out to eat, so I offered him a bite (before I took one if course) and he flipped. Wings and tail flared out, eyes pinned and growling while lunging at it. I moved it a tiny bit closer and he fell right off my shoulder trying to get away.

Ferocious Green Killer: 0

Funny, I play guitar too but Pico doesn't even notice.
Go figure.

Both of the fids HATE the vacuum— as soon as I go to grab it they both flip out and fly away. Leo specifically is scared of towels and bell peppers, which is so bizarre. As far as Bluebell goes, chip bags are apparently crinkly demon spawn!

Mylar balloons scare the heck out of them.

Baby my U2 hates water bottles and will destroy one any chance she gets. She even fly to one when I am not looking if she see it and throw it to the floor and tear it apart. Last owner used them as punishment. She also hates the Dremel, or towel.

Brooms, branches, blow-mold yard decorations, moths/wasps and most recently- a glittery shawl that I draped over a chair (oy..) lol

Belts. I took my belt off and tossed it on a chair. Pandemonium resulted. The only thing I can think was that it was an instinctive response to a snake which the belt resembled. They now have to be fully on and buckled when in their sight. Especially Tootsie cause even the sight of a belt unbuckled and hanging will set her off.

The bathroom (and double if I open a cabinet in there)
Turquoise (the color not the stone. As far as I know)
Any crinkly bag (I think this is true of all p’lets)
The vacuum cleaner

Ah yes branches.
Pico and I often take walks on the sidewalks of our residential neighborhood.
When we pass near/under a branch he gets very nervous.
(How can a bird be afraid of tree branches?)

BTW, Pico loves crinkly snack bags.
Rarely he will get a small taste of something semi-naughty, like Trader Joe's organic unsalted tortilla chips or organic almonds with no salt or oil, which I roast to make them crunchy.
He loves crunchy food!

I'm enjoying learning about all these surprising things our parrots are afraid of.

All of my birds, especially Kermit, are absolutely terrified of ladders/step stools. The few times I’ve had to carry a step stool into the bird room everyone completely freaked out! Kermit makes his ear-piercing distress call and that sets off the entire flock. They sense the danger and all start flying around frantically and screaming.

Same LOaL(+++snack bags as well) -Mine has been re-homed so many times that it is hard to know what trauma is in her past, but even so...I have seen her take to massive tree-perches, so what she hates sometimes seems random!
Also, today, she said "Happy bird, I'm happy right where I am!" (WHICH IS NEARLY CREEPY).I swear I'm not making this up--not that I believe her.... lol

Shadows of vultures. And then there was the time I had in hanging on the front porch and a hawk flew under and hit his cage! Scared the crap out of both of us! Poor guy..
Yeah, mostly large bird shadows..

The SO & I are big fans of this webcomic series all about dorky feathered fluffballs. Here's one that sprang to mind when I opened the thread:
