It showed up this afternoon when a neighbor was having her last Eucalyptus tree removed. I captured it to save it from the murder of crows that hang out in the Euc grove close by. It's tame, has clipped wings, and was hungry. I just posted it on Parrot Alert, and will put an ad on C-list. Is there anything else I should know or do?

It's a beautiful bird, but can't even stand on a perch. I've never thought much of pigeons.

I hope you find its' owners! Remember they needs seed, cracked corn and grit to digest their food.

Pigeons make wonderful pets. My daughter had several when she was young. She even handfed one. They are very sweet and I'm sure someone is missing it.

This turkey has a band on each leg. We haven't tried to look at the writing, which I assume to be id numbers, as I don't want to frighten it. Is there an online database to identify owners?

It's eating well, and even cooed some last evening. We have chicken scratch and laying mash, so it won't go hungry. We'll get some grit today. We're out of oyster shell we give the chickens.

There is a yahoo group for band identification you can google. I found this link but don't know if it is near you?
Lost: white/grey friendly dove

Thanks, Greycloud. Ceres is some 300 miles away. This one is a pure white pigeon, which must be fairly rare?

I haven't found info on leg banding yet, except for wild birds.

I had a friend who raised pigeons and raced them. He had some that would hang out on our shoulders while we played pool or sat around. There are some that are absolutely gorgeous...one of our favorites was liver and white colored with feathers around his feet.
Hope you find this guys owners..

Here is a link too:

Finally got help to hold the little turkey while I read tag numbers. Emailed NPA, National Pigeon Assn.

It is able to jump up to a platform in our aviary and onto branches. It sure is gentle. It's drinking and eating good, and even warbled a little.

Wonderful! Let us know if you get a response.
