Well today we finally got to the avian vet. We had to wait for him to return from his hols which gave me extra time to persuade Syd that his travel cage was not a prison after all. He coped with the 30 min journey happily.
He had a whiff of anaesthetic and was given the once over and claws trimmed, then the vet said he was a goodun. Great!
His comments: - his wing clip, done by the previous owner was good as it hadn't taken off too much. He had been concerned since the primary feathers had been cut that when he starts to moult there would be no protection for the new feathers as they came in so I should be careful for him not to damage them.
I should be careful to treat him as a child in case he/she thinks I am rather closer. That made me laugh. He doesn't know me!
He felt he was still underdeveloped in the chest muscles and therefore felt a bit thin, but overall he was in good shape. He approved the diet etc and all the changes in the little feather ball's life.
Breathe again - onward and upward.
