I have a Cockatiel named Jay. <3
Please help me.
My Cockatiel, Jay, (Around 10 years old) had his first FIVE seizures today. The first one I wasn't able to witness properly since it lasted only about 8 seconds. The next four shocked me. They consist of this order:
1. He either begins twitching his head or his wings spread out like he is about to fly.
2. He lets out loud squawks and falls off his perch, if he is on one.
3. He stumbles around the bottom of his cage and continues to squawk, while having body spasms and twitching.
4. Sometimes, he foams at the beak.
5. He stops after about 10-20 seconds, staying at the bottom of his cage and doesn't move for a good five minutes, his eyes closed.
6. He shakes violently while at the bottom of the cage, then opens his eyes after and looks around, confused.
7. He repeats this at varying times, either a few minutes or hours between each one.

His most recent one was about 5 minutes ago, and it's starting to worry me. I don't have the money to take him to a vet or a bird specialist, and seeing him like this breaks my heart. I've called three vets already, two out of three didn't have the Avian Vet in, and the third was closed. I covered him from any draft and covered his cage with a blanket to keep it dark. I also put a towel at the bottom of his cage, in case he fell from a perch. That was he'd at least fall on something comfortable. I haven't seen, on any site, anything about Cockatiels having seizures and FOAMING at the beak. It's starting to make me worry that something more severe is happening. Can anyone help me? Thanks..

The only thing I can suggest is a vet !!! Perhaps you could ask if they would let you do a payment plan ? It really sounds to me like he really needs to be seen by a vet.

Hope he gets better soon, and you get to the bottom of his problem !!

Thank you for giving the advice. I didn't even think of a payment plan, what a great idea! Thanks!
