I've got some apple tree clippings but they're covered in what look like different types of lichen. This morning I soaked the trimmed down pieces I've kept (I cut them to shape) and put them in the bath with bleach and water, I left them to soak for an hour then drained it and quickly showered/rinsed them. I left them in the bathtub to dry.
I can take a metal pan brush too it later (after work) to take off more lichen and bark but if they're useless then I won't. I'll also bake then for an hour too.
Is all lichen bad?
Will these clippings be safe for my green cheek conure?
Is my process for cleaning OK?
Will I need to leave the branches out in the sun because of the bleach? (Not much sun this time of year and its the UK)
I can put up pictures but not til later.
All advice is appreciated.
