I noticed that Echo, my 3 month old green cheek, sometimes make clicking sounds with his beak. It's quite louder than beak grinding (when he gets relaxed), and it really sounds like clicks. He does it mostly when I'm giving him a treat. He can get quite excited then. I am wondering though if the clicking itself is positive, like a happy sound, or is he over excited? Or getting a bit cranky? I just did it again while I give his meds in a small piece of cornmeal porridge. I made it especially for him. It does look like he really likes it although he can also get a little cranky. Maybe a bit over excited? Does anybody else green cheek make clicking sounds?

My green cheek makes clicking sounds as well - it's usually when he's happy and on my shoulder. I can't say for sure that it's always a positive noise - but for Tango, it only seems to be when he's happy.

What a gorgeous pair you have. I bet you have some funny stories to tell with these two? :)

Clark clicks all the time, it's his kissy noise. He will literally put his beak against my cheek and go *click*. It sounds like the noise when you pull your tongue away from the top of your mouth while gently sucking in. I give him the same kissy noise back.

A few days ago I started making this type of sound to see what my 3 month old GCC Petey would do. He started mimicking it, but only when I did it first. This morning when I removed his cage cover he greeted me with clicks. He learns fast.

Green cheek conure - Sydney (Syd) Hatched 2/2017
Syd and I have whole conversations with clicks. I am hoping he knows what we are saying because it's beyond me but he always looks happy about them so I guess we are saying something very nice.

I have also noticed that if he has a fright he calms very quickly if I click repeatedly to him. It seems to reassure him that things are ok and he will happily step up once I start making the sound.

Thank you all. Echo does it mostly when he gets a nice snack. So I think he's just excited then :)
