First molt

9 month old Green Cheek Conure
Well, I believe that Pat is going through his/her first molt. Been finding small feathers and down all over the place, has new feathers coming in (not too hard yet. And I found Pat with one of his/her tail feathers in their mouth acting as if nothing was wrong. The feather is clean looking around the barb, and this is what leads me to believe it is a molt that is happening.

In other news, in a few weeks, I should know that sex Pat is. lol

Yep, when you start finding feathers laying around & new pinnies popping up, it's usually a sure sign of molting.....

Green Cheeked Conure called JellyBean
I love when they have a long tail feather in their beaks... looks SO funny, like they are smoking a long cigar!! Sort of 1920's style!!

What makes it funny is the Pat was still trying to preen it. lol

Hah yeah, mine love to preen and play with their feathers after they fall out. So cute!
