Re: Vet check
Hi All, It's been a while since I've been snooping around here. Just want to share our second check-up to the vet, an Avian specialist an hour away. I took Sheldon in originally after I purchased him and now for his yearly.
I didnt want the local pet shop trimming his feathers again because the first time (and I didnt know any better) they trimmed ALL the flight feathers which left him to crash instead of glide. Nothing broken thank God.
The vet did a great job explaining which feathers were which and which ones not to trim (blood feathers). He trimmed a few this time and we are to watch and see how far he travels with what he's got left. I was also worried that his nails were getting long, but he told me they were fine. I had bought a pedyperch a few months back.
I will also know if his name will change from Sheldon to Shelda in a few weeks. I just need to know.
The nice thing about taking him to the vet is that the vet can piss him off (in a gentle kind of way) and not me. I have to live the little feathered beast.
