ok, this COULD all be coincidence, but Mave's a pretty smart little guy so I don't know. Over the past few days when we have Mave out, I have been getting him to "hop" from one hand to the other (it's a cute hop too), or when he is coming out of his cage I will see if he will hop, since step up he has mastered. Well, earlier, I had him on the bars to an excercise bike and for kicks decided to see if he would come when called (I have read a lot that says recall is an important thing). At first he looked at me like I was nuts. Finally I looked at him, held out my hand, and called him again, and after seeing my hand he flew AND landed ON MY HAND. After that he climbed right up to my shoulder, which I figured he deserved, I was SO impressed. We will see if he can do it again at a different time, but I was SHOCKED. Definitely a good shocked. If he can learn that without treats (just a lot of praise) and without formal training, I am excited to see what I can teach him to do .
