Macaw question! :)

Hello,

I am getting a macaw in about 4 weeks, and i also own a horse.

Just wondering, do macaws get along with horses ? haha

I don't think they ride too well , but probably could ride on your shoulder and say walk on or watch out for that log !! Sigh........idk...

hahaha i wasn't expecting him to ride! could become famous if i taught a macaw to ride a horse
just unsure if a macaw would be aggressive to him

haha it was just a simple question, when hes outside on his harness, do i allow him near the horse or stay clear ? the horse wouldnt do anything to hurt him, would be more worried about the macaw attacking him!

I too have a horse, not at my home though, and no they have never met~ we had a homing pigeon at the barn for months and was often on my horse! So as you can see the horse didn't care and neither did the bird, but my macaw has a much bigger beak....

But I could just see the Macaw grabbing on to a nostril and the horse shaking his head , and the bird ,well , not a good outcome :/

I socialize all my pets within another.that means the cat's dogs hamster and birds all get along. All except my fish obviously. I see no problem as long as you keep it off the ground and off its head and face. Also condition it to its sqauking so the horse doesnt get startled.

Sunny has her own "horse" that she takes to the horse shows with us. LOL

love that pic, horsesculpter! one look at that pic said "texas"! i used to live there and i still visit family and friends. i have been trying to make my way down there for good one day.
