Today we welcomed home the newest (and oldest) member of our flock
Meet Bandit, a 7 year old male cockatiel; he comes from a wonderful home, where he was very well taken care of and much loved.
I am honored to have been chosen to take care of him, and he's such a sweet boy.
On the way home he was completely SILENT. Once we parked at home he started peeping, and once he heard the budgies inside he perked right up.
I still need to get more toys made and set up for him, but he's settling in very nicely.
He let my toddler feed him millet- which he was VERY excited about feeding the birdy
When I fed him millet, he'd nibble on my fingers and then when he wanted more -very gentle little nibbles
I left his door open to see if he would come out...and he did- and sang us a song!
Then he flew over to me and hung out on my shoulder for a while- looks like I have a new shoulder buddy [emoji41]
I was able to get him back in his cage for dinner without a problem- I got him to step on his swing from my shoulder then to my surprise he stepped up on my hand and in he went!
He's such a little sweetheart, but it will take some time and getting to know each other before he allows scritches...but for being in a new home, he's done leaps and bounds of progress for the few hours he's been here. [emoji41]
