Hello everyone! I just got my first budgies last weekend and I'm thinking they may be too young to sex cause the cere's are purplish colored but I noticed when they near the window in natural light that I kinda can see blue in one and pink in the other. I took them outside for a moment yesterday and snapped a few pics and this is the best photo I have, they are not tame yet and scared of my huge camera. Any input would be great. Thanks in advance!

They are pretty young but I'd say the green/yellow is a male and the white/light blue one is a female. Still a bit young to tell 100%. Do you know their ages?

Both look like males to me! I'd say the blue/grey one is definitely male! He's a little older and his cere should probably be white-ish by now if he were a hen.

Well, both look grey to me.... one green series grey, the other a blue series grey.

Welcome to PF! And as far as taming them, just try starting out by feeding them millet or seeds by hand!

Good morning and welcome to the forums. Your budgies are adorable. Don't worry you ll have them tame in no time just spend time next to their cage talking in a soothing manner and offer lots of treats. Enjoy your fids :)

From my experience with babies the green one is a female due to the little teeny tiny bit of white on the cere (the males will not have any white at all) and the other is male:)

Thank you all for your responses! I do not know any clue to the age! We have no breeders in my area (internet search was no use) so I bought them at the flea market from a guy that's been selling all kinds of birds for years with a good reputation (though he got all his current babies from another person cause all his are sitting on eggs right now).
They are making progress with taming already.. I spend about 20 mins 2x a day with my hands inside the cage and feeding treats. And the cage is beside me at my fav. spot on the couch. Green one is more shy but today he/she showed a lot of progress. They were even playing and using my hand as a latter to get from the perch to the side of the cage while chasing each other :)

Both are stunning but I love the blue/grey one! So young :D The blue/grey is a boy. Wish I could find one like that for my grouchy gris, I'd fill an aviary with that color and camp outside just to watch them flitter around

Welcome to the forum!!!

I'm with Monica here, both looks like boys to me. The Grey one is a tad bit older then the Green. The Green one I would say he's around 3 months old as the Grey is around 6 months. The reason is due to the bars on their forehead.

hey!!
the green one looks like male to me. the white one has a pinkish cere, so she might be a female but im not very sure.... the green budgie is below 4 months old, and your white one looks like shes older. she might be around 6 or so. i cant say for sure cause though she has a clear cap, her eyes are still plain black. well they both are really pretty :D budgies are very friendly. your gonna have some lovely time with them once they are tamed :D :D
