Could I sanitize a previous birds toys and give them to a twelve week old Tiel? Or should I just buy brand new? If I do sanitize the old toys do I use vinegar water like on the cage?

If the plastics are made out of metal, plastic or acrylic, you can. Anything else is typically too porous to safely sanitize. Well, some would even argue about plastic, too!

Might be best just to get some new toys.

So it isn't possible to sanitize the wood perches that came with the cage?

Perches are a bit different... especially if it's hard wood (i.e. manzanita) rather than soft wood.

Soaking in a bleach *OR* vinegar solution... drying.... or even baking in an oven can help sanitize it. I've never done the oven part, though.

I figured better safe than sorry and threw out the wood perches already. I am pretty sure they were soft wood anyways. I had an extra perch for Skittles cage so I am just going to use that in the newbies cage for the time being.

But good to know, about the wood perches for the future!
