Hey guys! I posted a thread yesterday about my toy-pineapple-loving cockatiel that hates hands. He loves his pineapple so much that I can place him in one room, hide his pineapple in my pocket, walk a couple rooms away, hold the pineapple up and he will fly right for it. Its really cute. I call it "pineapple-trained" haha. I don't know why hes so attached to it ( he DID hump it like 50000 times in his cage, though.) I just wish I could give him a treat or something for flying to his pineapple since that is a really useful things, especially since we have high ceilings and his wings aren't trimmed. If he gets "stuck" he will scream and he will actually climb on my finger! It is the only time he doesn't try to bite me. I also want to reward him for that, too.
I have offered him millet, banana, raisins, cooked rice, grapes, green beans, he doesn't like any of it! Not when I hand feed it ( which I expected) and not when i just drop it on the desk in front of him or in his food dish :/ Not even a peck. I was wondering if you guys have any nice recipes or ideas?
Same thing goes for his toys. He has a wooden chew toy we bought at the store, a pony bead perch, and a hanging toy made of playing cards and beads, and a swing he LOVED (until I put some strings on the sides for him to play with, now he wont touch the thing..I guess i have to take those off.) When hes in his cage he just sits there on a branch in the corner with his back to every thing :[ The only thing he likes is that friggin pineapple haha. I'm going to try sticking some bells on his toys in there once I get the chance.
He spent his whole life(as far as I know) in a naked boring cage without much interaction and I just want to perk things up for him a bit with toys and treats but he doesn't like anything! I'm not sure what to do!
