How to replace dowel perch on top of cage with a natural perch?

I’m trying to figure out how to replace the dowel perch that came with my green cheek conures cage, with a natural one. Any ideas or suggestions? I included pictures of the cage I bought for reference of the length and size.

Best toys and food for conures

Hello there I've looked around and decided I really want to bring home a green cheek conure as my companion. I've been shopping for toys, and what I have so far are 12 shredding toys, 2 puzzle toys, 5 different "natural" perches [naturally shaped for their feet], a sandpaper perch for their...

    Perch brands?

I’m getting a Quaker parrot soon (I was going to get an Alexandrine, but I decided against it) and I’ve been having a hard time finding natural branch perches big enough. Does anyone know a good brand of perches (to big is better than to small) that is affordable? :)

    Non Zinc Bird Perches

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had a good suggestion of some bird perches that don't have any hazardous materials like zinc hardware? I made the mistake of getting some perches from etsy where it seems no one will tell you upfront on their page. You have to specifically ask and, well, I...

Cage perch clamp washers too small--found large enough washers to DIY better support

The perches that were bought for these cages came with round clamping washers that are just a bit too small. Instead of reaching 4 horizontal bars, they only touched on 2, barely 3, which isn't enough for adequate support... which makes the perches a little wobbly. And in tightening to correct...

    Perches and toys, help?

Hello everybody, I was looking at some new perches and toys for Cookie's cage, but I think I am becoming paranoid... So, most of the current cage accessories are inherited from my dearly missed cockatiel Pachito, but he definitely wasn't as active (destructive) as this little GCC hurricane...

    Need help with weird cockatiels

I got a cockatiel from a breeder a few weeks ago, put him (actually a her) in his own cage and he quickly got used to his new home and is very happy here, but I noticed he doesn’t really sit on perches but rather he perches onto of his food or water dishes or toys and sits on the bottom of his...

Question for bird toy and perch makers!

A large tree branch fell in front of my building and it was the perfect shape for a perch. The tree it fell from is a London Plane tree which is of the sycamore variety. 1) is this safe for my bird to chew 2) if I clean off the bark and decontaminate it by soaking it in a solution should I...

    Best sized perch?

I'm finishing up my preparations to bring Maui (WBC) home but I'm getting stuck on deciding on appropriately sized perches. I have a good roosting perch (2.5 cm diameter), some sisal rope perches, a manu mineral perch, and a flat corner shelf. Unfortunately I am having a hard time finding a...

    Perches and aviaries

I've been thinking of making a DIY PVC tube perch for Callum. Any advice? I had a very rudimentary one before I moved and he didn't pick at the toys too much, he just loved looking out his window. Should I add toys despite his apparent disinterest in them before? How tall should it be? I'm...

    Preparing perches for budgies?

Yesterday I went to the Dandenong ranges and there was a little area where you could sit down and look into the forest. I was looking around and I saw a fallen over gum tree, so I snapped some sticks and branches off for my budgies. The branches have little areas with black spots that scrape...
