A little bit of Bella

The poor thing, he must be in pain.
I think he needs a certified avian vet to correct the problem.
Well I got my little guys Toenails taken care of . No " Exotic Vets " around me . I found one an Hour & a Half away . $190.00 , and they take your parrot and you wait outside in the parking lot until they call you on your phone. We had to wait for 4 Hours ! They said his nail was Not grown into his foot But Very close ( Relief ) . Also told me I had to change his toys Daily , I believe this may be for Amazons etc. But Not for Greys . I think it takes Greys time to get used to new things . It took him 3 weeks to get trusting of his new cage & toys . But I ordered more new toys from chewy , also getting him onto pellets . I was worried he was in a pet carrier crate from 5:30 till 12:30 . But His nails are done ! And I hope doing Better .

Bella has her tail light on.

What an ordeal.
But glad it’s all taken care of.

Yah that every day toy thing is a bit much.

My Bella is very fearful of new stuff and only plays a little with one or two toys.

She has a blind ( like a deer blind) of hanging toys at one end of her cage. She likes to hide behind them and she can see us but we really can’t see her.
If I changed them around she would be very upset.
Even though she doesn’t play with them.

During Covid the veterinary around here did the wait in the car thing.
I really hated that.
But I don’t think they are doing it still.

It does have one advantage.

My birds (not all) would get upset and panicked just sitting in the waiting room because of the other predators (cats & dogs). Staying in the car with you keeping them calm is not such a bad deal considering the alternative.

No they took my Bird inside , I waited outside from 7:00 till 11:15 while He was inside alone in a Crate . When they had COVID - I have an English Mastiff and they would Not let me inside they came out back for his Vaccinations . And He's Jealous of the Parrot , and probably because I give attention to the Parrot " Rocky " , besides He doesn't like Birds , they're Not even allowed to land in my Yard .

Bella is into her hormonal season.
We have had her nearly 8 years and the first 2/3 were prepubescent/ non hormonal.
I. Have not been able to get a firm timetable with her.
My Amazon’s are fairly reliable in timing.

She has been very…….fixated in getting inside the kitchen cupboards. We can’t keep her away and she is destroying the wood work. I am afraid we may be forced into keeping her caged more often.

She gave my son a nasty bite for no apparent reason.

From what I have seen on video male African grey’s are harder to deal with when hormonal than female grey’s.

Bella is definitely trying to find a nesting spot and she regurgitate only to my wife. But there is none of the …..posturing, you know the drooping wings and trying to mate with someone/something..

This marks the nine year anniversary of adopting Bella.
I don’t remember the exact date but I know it was November 2016.

She’s become such a part of our lives.
I wish I could share a better video of her. She talks alot but when I start recording it’s silence or noises.
You may have to turn up the sound as I was not close when recording.
You will hear. Cockatiel talk, microwave beeps, my phone alert noise, the raven’s clicking and a few words.
I have more I could upload but …. Too shaky or my breathing is louder than Bella.

Most recent words/things she is saying

What’s going on NOW.
Watch out.
I know.

Speaking of cages.

The situation in Oregon is not real good.
Try not to go to much into it but we, wife and myself were supposed to have a separate housing by end of last September.
Contractor got cold feet and the project has been moving but at a crawl.

My father's health both mental and physical are not good and my stepmom will need help.

So all this leads me to the fact that I may have to move up here more/less permanently and that means birds to.

I have heard it said to involve your bird when putting together their new cage.
But I am not so sure about Bella.
Bella is a very nervous bird and startles easily.
If we have to bring in a box through the front door we have to cover her up or she gets scared.
I think it would be better to give her a cage move in ready (LOL) as near identical to her original cage as possible.

and how she's gona deal with a 12 hour drive
When we moved over to Hawaii last year we assembled both his initial smaller cage which I had ordered to be here when we got here, and his much larger cage that he spends his days in came with our household shipment. Both times he absolutely knew it was for him and eagerly watched. He went right in both too, showing the relief of having back his own space again. He also doesn't like boxes usually. Hope Bella does ok, I know they are all different too. It had been something I worried over too.

Bella did something surprising recently.

Bella was out of cage and hanging out in the bathroom.
Einstein came on live and I put him on the TV to watch.
Bella recognizes Einstein’s voice and flew into the living room.

When Einsteins owner was getting him to “bark like a dog” Bella started imitating the neighbors dog.
Doing her Bark along with Einstein.

When the neighbors dog would bark I always told her “dog, that’s a dog” but she has never made the noise when I asked her to.

It’s amazing how much they pay attention and take in without letting on what they have learned.

Bella according to Nameliss is perfectly normal. Never ever talk or do anything expected or on command. That will ensure the cute factor. Nameliss also has her preferred TV, OTR, anime ect. She doesn't seem to be interested in bird videos.

I've got new song lyrics for you- you know the tune....

A little bit of Bingo on my mind
A little bit of Bella by my side
A little bit of Luna's all I see
A little bit of Mango just for me
A little bit of Merlin, he's so fun
A little bit of Angel, she can run
A little bit of Baby, is divine
A little bit of Lady, she was fine
A little bit of Lucky, from my past
A little bit of Cheeky, he's a blast
A little bit of Sunny, was so bright
A little bit of Pinky, sure did fight
A whole lot of Birdies are the best
A whole lot of feathers in my nest!
