Tomorrow we will celebrate 3 Hatch Days for Petie Girl, Linny Boy & Lucille (Lucy). We only know Lucy's exact date so we celebrate all of them togther. Here is a little about each one of my babies.
Lucille 6-20-12 OWA
Lucille (Lucy was named after my husbandās aunt) was at a Sugar creek Bird Fair. She was still being weaned when we got her. That was NOT one of the best times for me, finishing the weaning, but we got thru it. She has grown up with us, and has quite the personality. She does not like to be cuddled as they say most Orange Wings like, but she does want to know where I am at all times. Funny Storyā¦..I am on the phone with Verizon and I was transferred about 5 times. The last young man I am speaking with I can barely hear him, so I am yelling thinking he cant hear me. The next thing I hear is, āDo you need to take care of your childā? I am laughing so hard I canāt talk. I finally am able to say, that is my parrot, and he comes back with your parent? NOā¦.my parrot. She had been screaming MAMA, at the top of her lungs. As a Parront you kind a ignore some of their noises. Anyway, I could tell that he wasnāt buying my story, and I told my husband, donāt be surprised if the police and children services show up at the door. LOL
The last couple of years before I retired (just recently) I was working from home as a customer service agent. I did my calls thru speaker and Lucy would listen to my calls. I couldnāt tell you how many times the customer could hear her and her response. But the funniest times would be, if either myself or the customer laughed. One day one of my long time customers and I both were laughing and Lucy starts laughing and that got me and my customer laughing even harder. BUTā¦.I must addā¦.she only laughs when she thinks itās funny.
One day my husband who is a āwanna be comicā tells this story and as I am saying āwhat really happenedā Lucy bursts out laughing. Even she knew it was hog wash! Lol My wasnāt as thrilled with her response as I wasā¦.lmao
Linny 6-2013 INDIAN RINGNECK
We found Linny at a pet store/exotic rescue center in Indiana back in 2013. Whenever we went to Indiana we would visit the store, my son loved the exotics that she had. Many were not adoptable, just there for a home and education for visitors. A breeder brought Linny in, because he has defective feet. My son fell in love with him, and here we are 13 years later with a Indian Ringneck. He is quite the character. He named himself because he kept saying Linny. Now with 4 other parrots in the house, it can get quite loud when they all start yelling Linny! LOL Linny is about the only thing that he says out loud, but when you talk to him and ask him questionās he either nods his head up and down for yes, or back and forth for no.
Petie girl 6-2015 BUDGIE
Petie got her name, from my son and his friends. They came up with this name of a famous person who I couldnāt say or spell. I shortened it to Petie Girl. Petieās story started out heartbreaking! Back in July of 2015, my neighbor comes over looking like the kid with their hand in the candy jar. She has her hands behind her, and she starts out with, ācan you help the babyā. She shows me Petie. She tells me, that she is at her mothers house, and a stranger comes to the door holding Petie in this little cage. She wants to know will they take her. They both say they cannot. Then the stranger says āwell I just throw her out here in the neighborhood. My neighbor āfreaksā because her Momās neighborhood is full of outside cats. She tells the stranger she will take her. She knows that we have parrots so she brings her to me. Poor little thing was so terrified. She was not fully fledged nor did it seem fully weaned. With a lot of help from my friend in NW Canada we were able to estimate her hatch date. I took a lot of love and patience but she finally came around. In the mean time I really did have my hands full with my other parrots. I tried to find her another home, but here she is 11 years later. Up until recently was my most loving little parrot of all. She has moments now that she just does NOT want to be bothered. Unfortunately, I can relate, since being a senior myself I have those days as well. lol
