Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(
And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
....David's gert (cat) Missy had to be put to sleep yesterday
. She was sixteen years young and in recent months started to go down hill. She started to up-chuck a lot. David took her to her doc a few times for a physical and blood work and was told she had thyroid and kidney issues and was given a perscription. She started to improve a little..didn't ralph as much, but in the last few days took a turn for the worse
She went from ten pounds in June to just over five at yesterday's vet visit. He left Missy there for more tests. The doc called a few hours later and told him there really wasn't anything he could do for her,she is old and her organs are just failing. David asked what the doc would do if she was his kitty, and the doc told him "the only humane thing to do".
I had rescued Missy sixteen years ago from where I worked at the time as a trucker. The business was at the top of Bethany Mountain. It was a farm at one time and Bill and Bobby turned it into a trucking business. While I was there (for fifteen years) they celebrated their fifty years in business.
Cat's and other critters ran amok there. Just at the other end of the property was Bethany Resevior and deer and coyotes and an occasional black bear
would wander in to the yard. Hawks and hooty owls were normal to see, with raccoons and possums and the like.
Feral gerts were rampant...forty or more! If you caught a young one he/she would be friendly. We had a mechanic who lived on-sight in a loft in the work shop. Gary was on call to do any repairs to trucks or trailers as drivers came and went at all times of the day or night. "Fred" befriended Gary (an all black kitty) and lived with him. Fred was very friendly and would often visit the guys in the warehouse. Fred was later called "Fredrika" as she came home knocked up by one of the many feral doods walking around looking for a one night stand
So Fred had her first litter and two of the survivors were "George" and Missy (then un-named) David had always had two kitties and Jenny Kitty had recently passed leaving just Rusty. I had gotten Jenny for him through a girl I was seeing at the time.
Missy was MAYBE a month old.All black with long fir. Her tail was bigger and fluffier then her body lol.
So I called David to see if he was interested in a new kitty and he said SURE.
Missy loved her daddy very much. Slept with him.Woke him in the morning if he didn't hear the alarm. Sat on the coffee table waiting for him to come home from work. Talked to him in the morning as he checked email..well...you get the picture
She would even talk to BB from time to time..always an in-door kitty.
Here is a picture of Missy in happier/healthier times.
