Blue Fronted Amazon

I've just joined the forum... and I'm owned by a Blue Fronted Amazon. He was a rescue. He's also the QUIETEST parrot I've ever encountered anywhere. No bawling or screeching EVER. He's done it 3 or 4 times in 3 years, but there were buzzards flying around outside - so understandable. However, I'm told this is the exception and he's very unusual for a BFA from this aspect of his personality.
And he's certainly full of personality (now) and likes to make his wants known. He also can draw blood if threatened or scared or generally annoyed. We recently returned from holiday, we had left him with an experienced animal carer, but he was angrier than snot with me for leaving him. He bit the base of my thumb so hard it bled for 35 minutes. The puncture site became infected and inflamed for 4 days!
Another of his little foibles is destroying furniture and wooden fittings!
I'd say, as long as you're all read up and aware of what you COULD be taking on (ie. a lifetime commitment), then get all your equipment in first, before you get the bird!

Wow! Your zon sounds like an emotional teenager. :) My blue front isn't really loud. He screams when he sees a crow or something, and every once in awhile when he is super excited. Mine doesn't chew up furniture. Are you providing enough things to keep him from getting bored? Zons love to chew, chew, chew.

Oh, yes.... he's got loads of stuff, kiddies building blocks, wood, tubes from paper rolls, rattles, straw toys... you name it, he's got it.... but we have a wooden interior in our home... and manages to munch his way around.. if left to it, so he isn't left to it!!
He's just trying to redesign the interior to suit his taste!:p
