I thought Cheddar was playing with this silicone ball in the cage.
Having a big fight with it. But Merlin seemed to be attacking Cheddar.
I thought it was because Merlin likes to “feed” the ball like a baby and he was jealous about it.
So with much difficulty I removed Merlin from the cage. Neither of those birds will voluntarily step up for me when inside their cage.
It was only after that I realized Cheddar was in real distress and not playing. Her foot got caught inside the ball and she was panicking.
I got her unstuck fairly quickly but not without a good bite for my effort.
This is the second time I’ve had a problem like this with that kind of toy.
The first time it was kinda old and worn out so I bought a new one.
Merlin likes it so much I did not want to deprive him.
No more.
That toy is off the list as far as safe for amazon parrots.
I’ll post a picture of the toy here tomorrow when I have better light.
Hate to think what would have happened if no one was home.
Next month I’ll be leaving for more than a month.
My son would do his best to help but my spouse…….she is to afraid of getting bitten, I don’t know what she would do.
Sometimes you have to just go for it and accept your going to get bitten to save them from serious injury.
