COVID-19 Virus

I just went to the vet with a poop sample and it was funny. They were like "when you get there, ring the bell. Leave your sample at the door. Step back 6 feet. An associate will take the sample. You will wait in the car and we will inform you of the results." Felt like some sort of sketchy operation lol. Glad they are taking it seriously---if anyone had seen it, the would not have though poop was in that bag lol.

Versions of this have become common across North America. Our CAV went to this a couple of weeks ago. Our DYHA when in the second day they switched to this format. But, this last Friday our Governor (VP hopeful) ordered all Vet clinics to limit service to only critical medical needs.

My dear Kentucky friend, if I heard correctly, Kentucky has just joined the list of those States with developing blooms of this Virus. Sorry, I didn't get much other than Kentucky was listed.

If I remember back-County Kentucky is not very friendly to outsider's that cause trouble or bring problems with them. And, it sounds like the new arrivals maybe getting visited by the locals recommending...

I was not aware that the National Forest's where open to camping other than in designated areas?

We have been staying busy with projects around here. I'm rearranging some furniture in the kitchen and upgrading the boa constrictor into a larger enclosure. She has outgrown her current enclosure and is starting to crush the plants in there.

Hang on hang on hang on, boa constrictor?? You tossed that in there so casually I had to re-read it a few times to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. And a big one by the sounds! I’ll bet she’s beautiful too, and no doubt will appreciate the upgrade to her living quarters :)

Maybe you need to make up a sign for your front fence, “Danger, no trespassing, boa constrictor on duty”, something like that. That might help keep those interlopers off your property!

CAN we talk about how long (AND 6-LEGGED) that tiger cub looks at first glance because of the one standing behind it!?!??! LOL!!!

Freakin' cats...Almost went to pet a stray yesterday and then remembered why I hate them LOL (jk...don't actually hate them...but they do seem very good at passing illness onto people).

I can't hang out with them too much or I'll end up with one LOL. Never had a cat, never want one...but like them enough (on a case-by-case basis) that I have to stay away ha. Yesterday, I got a look from a stray I have been worrying about for weeks and he was missing an ear!!! Poor guy...he probably wouldn't have let me touch him anyway, but still...all it takes is a look...I'm a sucker..but I also hate all of their weird viruses and parasites lol.

This is absolutely true! But, some say planned! Want some more salt for the wound? In those early days, an independent lab, not the suspected Wuhan lab, isolated the virus! The government made them destroy their work!
Sure fails the smell test!

Yeah but everything’s all better over there now, dontcha know??!!

I again bring up the theory that this coronavirus was manufactured in a secret lab by 19 Crows. These heroic Corvids are defending their world by attempting to wipe out humanity.

Infecting their sworn enemies, The Felines, while merely a side benefit to the crows, is the “smoking gun“ that proves the Angry Birds are behind it all!

I think you're right. And what's more, I think I've found the ringleader of the Corvid-19!!

I feel so guilty, my flock’s routine is getting all messed up during this situation. My birds are used to getting out of cage time after work everyday and more on weekends. The current events have me working 4 - 12 hour shifts (plus commute time), then having a couple days off, then back on for 4 12’s. I’m feeding them in the wee hours of the morning on my way out and coming home after their bedtime. I know that in the grand scheme of things that this doesn’t rate as a tragedy....but it doesn’t stop me from feeling like I’m a terrible bird mom right now when they look so confused. Hope it’s okay to articulate that feeling here - it’s not something that I can say elsewhere and have people understand why I feel badly about it. Hope everyone is staying safe!

You are doing the best you can, and this time of tragedy will pass. Whatever your job, it is clearly essential, so be safe!

Absolutely, the purpose of this thread is to share information and vent to members who truly care!

Some very sad news ...

As previously suggested by Gail (GaleriaGila), it might be a nice idea to send a quick email to your avian health professional to let them know how thankful we are for their dedication to our fids in everything they do. I have with mine and they really did appreciate it :)

QUOTE "“He was a huge pillar of the bird community,” Green said. “A lot of people take their birds to him. He was very intelligent and an excellent vet and there’s a lot of people’s lives he’s touched. It’s total devastation because he really was an important part of the bird community here" UNQUOTE

Very tragic!!

A grim development development in our home front!
My son-in-law, Macch, who works in Tampa General, ICU, just put his best friend and coworker on a ventilator! The guy is 22!
Macch is now self isolating himself from my daughter and their 6 month boy!

When you communicate with him, please pass along that there is this huge group of crazy bird folks that are adding him and his to our long lists during our thoughts and Prayers...
Huge, Warm Amazon Feather Hugs my Dear Friend!!!

Very sorry to hear this, David. Hope Macch and his family remain safe and healthy. I cannot imagine the emotional distress of placing a close friend and co-worker on a ventilator. Hope he fully recovers.
