COVID-19 Virus

President Trump and First Lady Melania have tested positive for covid 19.

President Trump being taken by Marine 1 to Walter Reed hospital.

ETA: both he and Melania are symptomatic.

He walked briskly and without assistance from the White House to the helicopter and did not dally before boarding. On the ground at Walter Reed he walked briskly and without assistance from the helicopter to a vehicle hidden from view and the motorcade drove to the entry. He released a brief video on Twitter where he stated "I think I'm okay" (ETA: he stated more definitively that Melania was doing good), he did not seem short of breath or anything like that. We are watching this very closely, this is the most significant health issue to impact a sitting president since Reagan.

Trump wore a cloth mask and others on the helicpoter wore N95's and or/ cloth masks.

President Trump reportedly has fatigue, low grade fever, congestion, cough. They have given him an experimental treatment. He retains all power and will be working from Walter Reed while there for at least a few days.

And in other news, Michigan Supreme Court rules against governor Whitmer on her use of emergency powers. It will be several weeks before the extent of this ruling is fully understood. Her most recent extension of emergency powers extended them until February 9, 2021 all while the number of cases in Michigan continues to plummet.

The strength of a Republic is in its dependency on the balance of power within government.

I fervently hope POTUS and FLOTUS fully recover absent the frequent long lasting effects. Virus has spread throughout the corridors of power with more potentially high profile positive cases.

Perhaps this will spur a reassessment and more positive adherence to CDC recommended mitigation efforts.

And, just too note that this topic is not all dark. Great News!!!
AstraZeneca is already gearing up production of a COVID Antibody with a target of more than one million doses available prior to 2021. As more facilities begin gearing-up that volume will increase rapidly.

Oh, as an FYI: The US Military is already in place to handle the distribution, just as they did with all the other COVID systems.

President Trump and First Lady Melania have tested positive for covid 19.

I wish the president would give an update on his First Lady . Even if its to say she has only had mild symptoms and didn't require treatment....

Hopefully the First Lady is doing well.

The super spreader rose garden advent now has 34 infections..that we know of. No masks or social distances, as Dr. Fauci says speaks for its self. There was some talk the gold star family event has been the source, but thankfully they all tested negative!

Viruses are tricky to treat. It would be great if more options wee found

Well this worries me,

I'm not sure if ferrets would also be sensitive, i know our black footed ferret is highly endangered...

And we know zoo had tigers get sick tho recovered.

Ok yep ferrets are sensitive to this virus too....Hopefully we don't have many ferret and and parrot owners as ferrets are risky to parrots..

White House Blocked C.D.C. From Requiring Masks on Public Transportation
The order would have mandated that both passengers and employees wear face coverings on planes, trains, buses and subways and in airports, stations and depots.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention drafted a sweeping order last month requiring all passengers and employees to wear masks on all forms of public and commercial transportation in the United States, but it was blocked by the White House, according to two federal health officials.

The order would have been the toughest federal mandate to date aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus, which continues to infect more than 40,000 Americans a day. The officials said that it was drafted under the agency’s “quarantine powers” and that it had the support of the secretary of health and human services, Alex M. Azar II, but the White House Coronavirus Task Force, led by Vice President Mike Pence, declined to even discuss it.

Thank you Lancet Journal , I agree it's high time to provide detailed demographics, from every country.

" In Spain, COVID-19 data currently published at the country and regional levels are insufficient to understand the dynamics of COVID-19 and to take action. We now urge the health authorities in charge of COVID-19 data in Spain and elsewhere to release consistent daily open data updates on tests, cases, hospitalisations, intensive care unit admissions, recoveries, and deaths, including ongoing retrospective series corrections. Each of these variables should be broken down by age, sex, and geographic detail, to better monitor the demographic impacts of the pandemic, and to better inform a public health response. "

PlumX Metrics

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has infected more than 35 million people globally, with more than 1 million deaths recorded by WHO as of Oct 12, 2020. As a second wave of COVID-19 affects Europe, and with winter approaching, we need clear communication about the risks posed by COVID-19 and effective strategies to combat them. Here, we share our view of the current evidence-based consensus on COVID-19.

Any pandemic management strategy relying upon immunity from natural infections for COVID-19 is flawed. Uncontrolled transmission in younger people risks significant morbidity3 and mortality across the whole population. In addition to the human cost, this would impact the workforce as a whole and overwhelm the ability of health-care systems to provide acute and routine care. Furthermore, there is no evidence for lasting protective immunity to SARS-CoV-2 following natural infection,4 and the endemic transmission that would be the consequence of waning immunity would present a risk to vulnerable populations for the indefinite future. Such a strategy would not end the COVID-19 pandemic but result in recurrent epidemics, as was the case with numerous infectious diseases before the advent of vaccination. "

" Florida’s official COVID-19 “positivity rate” is at odds with rates reported by the renowned tracker run by Johns Hopkins University. The official state rate is around 5 percent; Johns Hopkins says it’s closer to 12."

Also Florida doesn't meet WHO reporting standards...

And also our governor is floating the idea of slowing down the reporting of cases and deaths to maybe every once a week???? All while we are having an average of 3 000 new cases daily, and around 200 hundred deaths daily? For the past 3 weeks we have added nearly 1000 deaths weekly... we are 15 ,000 deaths and counting ( our original projection was for 4,000 for the year) we continue to have surprise back log deaths and cases show up ......the latest were from August and had they bern reported then some schools wouldn't have opened, that have since had to close , and 2 teachers , and 1 student who may have lived, and prevented at least 2 kids from being in the hospital...

Sad to see this. The virus is a cold, primitively calculating beast, totally oblivious to our actions.

This pandemic is awful. I just feel the bright light of truth , would help us fight it.

As being honest in reporting

Masks, social distances, hand washing, shoes that go outside and into public places nit being taken into our homes, or at least sanitized, frequently cleaning public surfaces. Healthy diet, exercise, sunshine, stress reduction friendship and love do all have impacts

And, within the deep darkness of this monster is truly great hope as in a very short nine months we have successfully defined this monster (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)) and have found methods of greatly improving an individual's recovery and recovery rate.

One can continue to linger in the darkness of the rampage of this Virus, but to survive, one must also see the vastness of what we have done and it's ramification for survival. We did not give-up. We developed a plan and have stayed with it to where we are today, A Very Long Ways, from where this began...

The numbers define a monster virus that by design is chewing though available humans, just as it was designed too. They also define that we are winning. Yes, slowly, but with a solid foundation. Like him or not, our President recovered using one of the new 'DNA Based' drugs! That reality goes far beyond this monster as it has opened a new frontier for medical science.

The medical offshoots of Covid should be immense. Hopefully we'll have a template for much faster reaction with therapies/vaccines for future outbreaks. Goal being, of course, to prevent a pandemic.

I hear you Scott! But, being able to prevent a Virus Pandemic will require major steps in science. All very possible, but at some point in the future.

We as a World need to support such studies.

virus hunters and scientists, have bern out there for decades already. And many possible new pandemic diseases have been noted.

And research for new diseases is routinely done in know large bat colonies. Migrating birds especially shire birds us already done for new influenza. Farms are monitored in swine and poultry. Abd wildlife surveillance, is routinely done in every state, fir wasting disease, EEE , West Nile, plague, leprosy, hantavirus, botulism, tick and mosquitoes born illness and many more besides.

They hard part is when they mutate. Tho prior to this coronavirus, their are other coronavirus they have been monitoring

I want to honor Dr. Messonnier For her bravery in warning us in February.
She paid a high price for her honesty, as we haven't heard from her since. We need more people with Dr. MESSONNIER's courage.

(CNN)One of the top officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned Americans on Tuesday that health experts foresee the novel coronavirus that has killed thousands spreading in the United States.

"We expect we will see community spread in this country," said Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. "It's not so much a question of if this will happen anymore, but rather more a question of exactly when this will happen and how many people in this country will have severe illness."

The agency tweeted Tuesday evening that Americans should think about getting ready.

"Now is the time for US businesses, hospitals, and communities to begin preparing for the possible spread of #COVID19," it wrote, referring to the name the World Health Organization has given the novel coronavirus. "CDC continues to work with business, education & healthcare sectors, encouraging employers to be prepared."

Nancy Messonnier told it like it is,” Dr. Thomas Frieden, the former director of the CDC, told the New York Times before Messonnier’s last telebriefing. “And she was 100 percent right, and they silenced the messenger.”
