COVID-19 Virus

A recent study in mice on coronavirus shows disturbing evidence of the virus effect and level in the brain. Possibly shedding lifgt on long haulers

Which leans ever greater credence to getting vaccinated!
Michigan citizens are placing heavy pressure on our Governor to speed-up the vaccination rate as today was the first day that this State had exceed total vaccinated of a bit more than half the number of available doses in Michigan...

Not sure if you have seen any of the reporting regarding the base virus and it very long trail (some 1000 miles) from Southern China to the bio lab, which China now states was the epicenter of this Virus.

This highly viral virus continues to prove its strength in creating ever new and more aggressive versions. The vast effect on the entire human body is just beginning to expose itself.

As a side note, take care in listening to Dr Fauci (sp) as he has long had a problem with stepping beyond his knowledge base and as a result having to flip/flopping and backtrack on statements. Not because he is not an excellent source, but, he has an issue with 'having to answer a question' compared to stepping-back away from a question that is not in his preview, especially when on TV. Not being hard, just take care... The run away discussion regarding multiple masks was a recent example of a foot step too far...

Celebrations are in order!!!

I got my First of Two Covid 19 Vaccinations Today!!! And, I'm scheduled for the second 'booster' later this month! Proof Positive that even a blind squirrel finds a nut from time to time! :D

Mrs. Boats received her's about 10 days ago, which is amazing since I registered 30 minutes behind her.

Clearly a shipment came in because they had the mass vaccination facility up and humming! In and out in about an hour, which included the 15 minute observation period, post short. The shot is fairly deep in the arm muscle, so a bit bitty.

Cheers!

WOOHOO!!! CONGRATS (Jealous!!)
Make sure you still wear a mask though, b/c a growing body of evidence suggests that vaccinated people can still get infected and spread the virus-- they just don't know they are sick b/c of asymptomatic response...some still get sick too---which means that we need more people vaccinated and to keep a very careful eye on these new strains and keep taking all precautions (for themselves, but also for others who are not vaccinated)

Mrs. Boats will not let me out of the house without an in-depth discussion regarding being safe. Once an educator, always an educator! I'm shocked that she hasn't asked me if I have my homework, etc... with me! :D

Yeah, by the way, where is that paper? I hope you don't think you are going to pull off extra credit at the end of the quarter, because "extra" means on top of something else, and I've got nothin'! HAHA

Congratulations Steven and Susan!! Not sure how your system works, around here one needs computer skills and patience as vaccination slots are suddenly added and snapped up within 2 or 3 minutes. I've helped several senior friends score appointments by acting as surrogate computer interface.

Our medical group (multi-location Hospitals) has a 'My Chart' (there is also a My Health) software for interaction with one's doctor, one's medical records, etc. Once one's (State of Michigan) group classification is called (we are 1c) one can register on the Health Care program. You get a text back stating you have register and then you wait. We both had signed up about a month ago with me follow Susan by about 30 mins. Than one waits to received an email stating one can sign-on. Susan received her email ten days ago and signed-up based on selecting a date and time block provided. Two days later she received a shot.

Yesterday, eight days later, I received my email and when I when on the site, I noted that spots where open yesterday afternoon. So, I signed-up and when into the massive vaccination facility. Took about an hour. After returning home, I found another email stating that I could sign-up for the second shot. So, signed up for that shot three weeks from now.

Some minor post-injection site pain, but no worst than a flu shot.

The facility reminded me of the 'mass' vaccinations during the 1950's.

I got my second dose yesterday. I work in healthcare, although on the admin side, and our governor put us all in phase 1A. Our insurance is a giant HMO (Kaiser) and all I had do was go to the website, answer a couple of questions, and pick my date and time - they scheduled both appointments at once.

First shot I had some soreness for a couple of days and about a week later I noticed a red blotchy itchy area at the injection site. So far with second dose I feel fine although according to my thermometer I’m running a slight fever and it’s going down quickly.

What a year. This time in 2020 I was preparing to go on my 50th birthday cruise and figuring this “Wuhan Virus,” as it was known then, would be no big in the long run. Now I know what PPE is, social distancing is a normal part of our day, I have had like one hug in MONTHS (living alone has a downside), and I know who manufactured my vaccine.

My sister has had both rounds, and she said that she had a fever with the second and had to take off work, but hat she was totally fine the day after.

You're lucky Inger! I'm a member of Kaiser SoCal and they have no vaccine for general distribution to any members. Their supply from the state is apportioned to employees only for now.

I do feel lucky. Washington isn’t distributing to general population yet, but by being in healthcare I was able to get mine in the first wave. I won’t lie-I was pretty emotional yesterday, knowing that in a couple of weeks the vaccine will have reached maximum effectiveness in me and I will be pretty safe.

And, to think an invasive species could be a source for creating the SARS-CoV-2 (monster virus) vaccine! Didn't see that one coming! That could truly be a win win for Florida!

Currently, I'm at the halfway point between injection #1 and #2. It is an odd feeling that one has within this passage. May each of you soon have an opportunity to be here.

Interesting "CARD" provided me during administration of the first injection. I was told that I could not get the second injection unless I provided this CARD when I get the second injection. While waiting between sign-in and the injection suite I watched one of the sign-in people find a CARD on the floor and quickly search the line, found the individual and provide with comments on the 'importance of CARD.

While I was sitting in the post injection observation area I looked at the CARD, noting the addition of the identification of the Name and Lot number from the injection provided.

I have seen and heard reported that document 'could /will' be needed for a cross-section of uses from employment to travel. In all transparency, the reports have been rare and scattered. Although the CARD is too large for an average wallet, it fits perfect in a Passport. It made sense to me to place my CARD within my Passport.

IMHO, I see this CARD as become overly important in the future, Keep Your's Safe!

I'd imagine the card is vitally important as backup to official documentation and potentially needed for employment or travel.

In the case of my mom, initial online appointment auto-scheduled second dose for same time three weeks later and duly noted on card. Problem is computer set for Pfizer vaccine (3 week interval) but she received Moderna with 4 week interval. Just yesterday she received verification of fourth week appointment. In any case she was going to magically appear week four regardless - even though local officials have discussed CDC guidance permitting later than planned second dosing if necessary.

I've been making online appointments for senior friends/neighbors lacking computer skills and have noticed marked change in appointment uptake. Last week or so slots vanished literally in minutes. Now the process is a bit more relaxed with availability for an hour or longer. Guess we're about to enter Phase 1C with expanded eligibility for folks 50 and older, ages 16-49 with documented underlying health conditions.

It is amazing that the classifications have different means State to State. 1c in Michigan is 65 and older with opportunities for younger with underlying health conditions.

Heartfelt thanks for your efforts in getting seniors sided up, Scott!

Thanks Steven... I was remiss for not mentioning all of the above pertains to California! Quite a bit of variety throughout the nation!!
