There is so very much in this Thread that is critical to each individuals Safety that it in IMHO has become monitory to read this Thread in its TOTAL...

I have worked hard at not getting crazy regarding my Posts within this Thread and not scaring our members and viewers. Having said that, and sadly a bit late, I believe that we need to begin thinking further ahead...

At this time, most everyone is beginning to self-limit their traveling out and about. Especially those who have gathered their stores in advance or very recently. Also most all States are requesting or closing events in which the size of the gathering is over a 'stated limit'. In addition, several States have closed specific areas, creating No Travel Zones... To that end... there had been statements at the late Saturday National Update that the Medical Group is considering some travel bands within the United States...

Thinking Way-Out-Side of the Box here... IF a National Travel Bands (or limited travel), which would likely be InterState based i.e. between States, there would likely be a very strict requirements for Identification of Individuals and spot health checks, like temperature???... BUT (and being a bit crazy here) would such requirements not also apply to 'pets'??? Especially since it is known that Dogs can carry and transfer this Virus??? And, Governments think in groups not individuals, i.e. 'All Pets.'

Still thinking this though at this point! Any of our Prepers' that have given this any thought would like to chime in here, please feel free. All my thinking to this point has been IntraState based i.e. [/U]within ones State.[/U].

Looks like it is true! Multiple sources say Italy has prioritized care of the young! The elderly will be cared for on an as available basis!

Why Washington State has more cases? Because they did more tests! There are other hot spots we haven't found.

I emphasis, all age group 20 years and older , can develop sever symptoms and pneumonia! We are all in the 20% of cases that can be severe. While the risk of death is still higher for 65 and over. 80% of us will still do great.

On Saturday, Alexandria, 22, was struggling to breathe, so she called 911 and was rushed to an isolation unit at a Seattle hospital.

It has definitely been interesting in Washington state. We are now around 650 confirmed cases I believe? We have 3 in my small county which is about 200,000 people. I work for a City library system and late Friday they decided to close public buildings and schools (starting Monday). Well I worked yesterday at the library and we had around 2000 people through there in 8 hours....do they think the germs are waiting for Monday to arrive?? A bit of sarcasm here - but it was like watching people shop for toilet paper :(. I went through a bottle of hand sanitizer yesterday at work, but I talked to way more people than I feel like I should have had to.

I emailed my brother earlier to see if he's had to cancel flights, as he is a pilot and makes many chartered flights flying lawyers and other business people all over the country. His name is Dave, so please keep him in your prayers. I'm very concerned about him, not only for his safety but also because he is 66. If he got infected will the hospital treat a young person but tell Dave "well, we'll get to you when we're not so busy."

So a friend from work texted me regarding our states limitation of gatherings in excess of 25 people. I went looking for news to verify. Saw the current death count out of Italy it’s very high. Again – thanks to this thread– I’m reasonably prepped.

Ha ha – I did get stuck in grocery store Friday. Just needed weekly groceries but the lines have finally hit. There’s a shopping center nearby that slants and a grocery store is located at its lower end. I drove past Saturday and all All I could think of was a Whale Watch commercial. Everybody goes to the side with the whales and the boat leans over. To see the whales. Well it looked like everybody had driven all their cars to the side with the grocery store and the parking lot had leaned over to see.

Anyways I saw the report about so Many deaths in the a little tiny country Italy. How do we prep for that? Normally when I leave the house I always make sure there’s about a weeks worth of accessible food and water for my birdies.


My theory, normally, if something extreme happened to me before I got home, somebody would notice eventually, and a week should be plenty of time. But now I don’t know. I don’t know how to prepare for this What-If.

My parents generation spread out across the country, and so did mine. So I can’t just depend on relatives. Friends and coworkers have their own families to be attentive to. How do I prep my birds in case one day I never come home from this particular crisis?

One of the things particularly disturbing is the attitude toward the elderly. Someone said earlier Italy is prioritizing the youth and will treat the elderly on an as available basis. The same thing is going on elsewhere. I've read some articles where it was suggested the coronavirus could be beneficial in helping to clear out the elderly and free up hospital beds. What kind of mentality would even suggest such a thing?

On another forum where they too are discussing coronavirus someone posted some stores are warning about food supplies getting low and for people to try and be considerate of others by not hoarding so much food and essentials. But will they be considerate? I'm reminded of another crisis when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. A woman said everyone was in utter chaos and she saw a policeman, who she went to to ask for help. But she said the cop told her "go to H***, it's every man for himself!" Are we now in that same mindset?

When this is all over, somebody is going to make a blockbuster conspiracy movie. It will be called Nineteen Crows.

It will examine theories as to why 19 Brave Corvids in a secret laboratory hidden away somewhere secretly decided to take on all of human society.

Was it a misguided hope of freeing their oviporous cousins from millenia of servitude to their hominid masters? Or did these 19 brave Angry Birds merely act in retaliation against the mammalian instigators of global warming?

I don't know much about corporate aircraft, but commercial airliners have robust air filtration systems; the touch surfaces are problematic. We will likely see a draw down of domestic air traffic this coming week. Unsure if limited to specific airports or something more general.

Brought a brand new .22 Long rifle on the weekend, and is all sighted in ready to go if the food gets short, we have plenty of rabbits and Kangaroos for a bit of tucker if we need it (and put my bush cooking recipes to good use!)

The thing is, it’s mostly Not Hoarding. Stores quite some time ago went to systems where they stock only just as much as they’re normally gonna to sell each week. It’s just like with the hospital beds. Our systems are set up to run smoothly within the normal range. The reason they’re telling us to limit interactionIs because the hospitals can’t handle large numbers of people getting sick all at once. Same in the grocery stores. All of the stores. They’re so nice and big and look like giant warehouse is and they’re always apparently full to the brim every time we go in. But they’re actually computer managed and they don’t have very much overstock at any one time at all. So suddenly everybody just needs to get a little bit extra because what if we’re locked up for a few days–or weeks–or months. And they Are shutting down restaurants etc. So you need a few extra things on hand. The problem is, everybody everybody all the sudden needs a few extra things on hand. Everybody says why is everybody else hoarding. But they know that they themselves are not hoarding. The fact is, almost nobody is hoarding. Our stores just really don’t keep as much product in-stock as we have the illusion that they do.

But of course we all feel like we’re so much more in control, as well as more virtuous, if there are some theoretical, not-Us “hoarders” to blame. Rather than acknowledge we’re living within a system that’s not perfectly designed to glide us thru this catastrophe.

Unfortunately, this has to be When under certain circumstances! When the system is overwhelmed, you need to prioritize! Opposite of what is normally done! Standard ER? Most critical first! A 100 bed hospital with 500 people in line?
Two people, one severely bleeding, one a broken leg- you treat the broken leg first!
