I've noticed an increasing number of guaranteed feather plucking cures on the market. Vitamins, oral serenity agents, bird jackets, suggestions and more. Has anyone else seen these? Or even tried them? I'm worried because parrots as pets are increasing. Along with uninformed owners. I talked to a person two days ago. Her husband wanted a parrot because they talked. I told her that you can't make them talk. For her husband to read up. Parrots are toddlers with that personality and intelligent. She didn't realize that. She had 3 children under 7. She didn't want to deal with one with feathers.

There’s nothing that gets rid of feather plucking to date. There are different causes to it. With my Ekkie I’ve started to take him out for 15-20 minute intervals. I feel he’s sensitive, and easily stressed. Loud noises even get to him. He does best around his flock, and not overwhelmed. My other parrot is a hormonal plucker, and not as severe. Every situation is different but there is no cure. It’s all about managing the behavior as best as possible.
