Cuttle Fish Collections - ?

I live on the beach (Gold Coast) and go for morning walks a lot. There are quite a lot of washed up cuttle fish lately and I have already collected buckets of long strips.

I soak them in boiling water to wash off the salt and any living sea mites ect.
Frankie absolutely loves them and her beak is so shiny.

One question though, is there anything else I should be doing to the cuttle fish before I give it to her? Is the boiling water enough or is this not safe for her?

I would think that boiling enough to remove any residual flesh would make your fresh cuttle fish skeletons OK for Frankie to enjoy.....
