Devastation

She made her way into an office building and was hiding in one of the rooms. The security guard found her during rounds and recognized her from the fliers and he called the animal rescue whom my wife had also notified. The vet said her labs look moderately dehydrated and we have to monitor her, but no signs of bacterial infection so far and no signs of fecal parasites so far. I must have cried for 10 minutes straight. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO POSTED AND KEPT US IN THEIR PRAYERS.
Great to hear mate. Really happy for all of you.

No one would or should get mad at the recommendation that birds shouldn't be taken outside without a harness. We read too many heartbreaking posts about birds that flew out the door, got spooked while sitting on their owner's shoulders even with clipped wings. I hope I never have read another one.

I agree. I was 16 when my grandmother's cocktail flew away. He got lost when the cage was dropped being taken to porch. The bottom cracked apart. He was never found. We looked everywhere. Since then unanticipated fly away is a personal paranoia. I prefer a harness when I take Nameliss to parts of house where door opening is possible by anticipation or not openings. A harness isn't for everyone or bird. Posts like this sadden me. It causes me to remember my grandmother. Her hope for recovery. I want everyone to be aware of and consider safety options to minimize spook and fly away options. In my grandmother's case, she couldn't anticipate wall bump, cage slip then drop on edge cracking bottom as someone was opening the enclosed porch door. Unanticipated door opening is a fact of home life. This is made a double or triple problem when your pet has wings. Let us not forget about the escape enthusiast dog, cat, ferret, and many more.
