I recently got hired at target as a electronics specialist and my first day went great! I was a little shy at first, quiter than usuall but I really opened up after a while. My next day is on Wednesday, I'll then be able to use the cash register with my own employee number.

I'm pretty happy with the hours they want me to work, so far it's 8am-4pm, I'll be able to take care of Rosie and Kenji in the morning for an hour and a half(I wake at 6am) then be with them when I get home around 4:30. And the days I don't work I'm all for the birdies!

I'm so excited about having a consistent job! And on top of this I'll still be making money on the side like I have been. I've honestly been a bit stressed out, I've been making just enough money to take care of Rosie and Kenji up to my standards. But now... I can spoil them! Hahah, and also save up money. I love that target pays bi weekly(Petsmart was weekly, and I hated it). I'm putting half of every paycheck, and whatever is left over into a savings account until I have $2,000 minimum saved up. I never forget that at any second I could have a major vet emergency on my hands. I don't want to rely on my parents in a situation like that, it's not their responsibility and I try very hard to fully support my birds.

I have one umbrella cockatoo. A female 3 years old named Mina.
That's wonderful! And perfect that you have time for your fids. I have been thinking I need to get a job and pay down my cards. They have been a little out of control since I got Mina. I can't help it really. I keep seeing stuff I think she needs. Then there are vet bills. Let me know how you like Target. They are hiring in our area too maybe I will check them out.

@getwozzy
it is nice to be able to save up money, my mom keeps reminding me to make sure to do fun stuff for myself, and not just save all my money for the birdies lol

@Minamommy
I'll let you know how I like it :D From people I've talked to they all say everyone is great. But from what I've read online some stores have terrible staff that makes working for them unpleasant. But I think all stores are like that, just depends on who you're working with.

@Antoinette
Thankyou! also your comment "Always nice not to reply on other people !!!!" confuses me LOL

@Wendy
Thanks! I hope so as well :D

good for you Ashley!,those sound like good hours to work.

Target opened up here in Canada just this year, the previous store Zellers were closing down due to bankruptcy which was Canadian owned, and had been in Canada for over 30 years...sad to see it go, but hellooooo Target!!

Yay, Ashley!!! My daughter's trying to find work at the moment, so I understand how very happy you must be. Well done finding a job and best wishes for fun days ahead. I do like your attitude to saving! Like you, I've always had a nest-egg to fall back on and it's saved me many times from disaster. Hope you continue enjoying yourself at work and may the $$$ roll in! :D :D :D

Congratulations! That's a good, steady shift. You won't be pulling any ridiculous graveyard hours, thankfully. Target seems like a great place to work, too. I ran into an old middle school friend who's been a Target employee 10 years and he said that he's very happy there.
