Heeeeeeeeeeere's Jolly!

That is so wonderful !!! I know when I have lost birds I miss the species so much I end up replacing them. Even though their not your beloved lost bird their can be similar qualitys [ a new love]. I think its great he came from such a loved home. I find my rehomes that come from great starts in life adjust well.

Thank you! Yes, I agree. Coming from a good and loving home can make a huge difference in how well a bird can adjust to a new home. There's already a foundation with which to work.

I am so glad that everything worked out wonderfully and that you were able to welcome such a beautiful, well adjusted, and exceptionally handsome a healthy boy into your life! I look forward to the many wonderful stories you two will have to share with us, and the journey you'll have together. Congratulations! :)

Thank you, Chantal! I'm most definitely looking forward to those stories as well. And with a character like Jolly's, you can be sure there will be quite a few!

Congratulations!!!! He is a beautiful bird and I am so happy he is helping heal your heart!

Thank you so much.

Sounds like a great situation for all! Wonderful news!

Thank you!

Jolly's greenness takes my breath away! What a suave-looking young man he is! Stephen, we're all so happy Mister Jay has come ihto your home to ease the pain of losing Sir Bixby. Just as you've been incredibly lucky to have such a GORGEOUS bird, he's lucky to have a loving family like yours.

Thank you so much, Trish! We do feel lucky to have Mister Jay in our family. He'll never replace Bixby, of course, but we can already feel him forging his own place for himself in our hearts.

Welcome home Jolly! :smile015: :D

What a stunning boy, Stephen! Reading this just gave me goosebumps all over!

I'm thrilled to hear that Jolly has bonded to you, and how well he interacts with your family - all of them. :)

Here's to a lifetime together!! :jumping40

Laura, you ROCK! :smile015:

Thank you, Wendy!

I'm over the moon that he's begun bonding with us, too! A lifetime together sounds beautiful to me!

And yeah, I think Laura ROCKS too! :D

Stephen, have you heard Jolly ask "got kisses for momma" yet? Followed by some fairly loud kissing noises? That is one of many things he says but that I would love, if you all continued to reinforce it as kind of an ode to his first momma.:D

Hahaha! No, not yet. Or at least, not the "got kisses for momma," part. But the "fairly loud kissing noises" we've definitely experienced! Lol! Loads of fun... until he does it right in your ear while sitting on your shoulder! Hahaha! But reinforcing that phrase as an ode to his first momma? No problem! :D

Congratulations Stephen. Jolly is beautiful and sounds like he is excited to be welcomed into such a wonderful and loving family:) I bet he will love being around your kids just as much as they love him and he will thoroughly enjoy being art of your family. Sounds as though he's making himself at home already:D...

Thank you, April!

Jolly is slowly getting used to the madness that is my family, and we're making sure the process is gradual. Don't want to freak him out too bad all at once. Hahaha! I'm loving that he is so good about going to everyone.

WOW, this is such a great read!!! Thank you Laura for showing such kindness!!!

It sounds as though Jolly is settling in just fine. Reading this brought tears to my eyes, I know how hard it was on your family to lose Bixby!

I'm so happy for you and your family Stephen!

Thank you, Melissa! It's a great read for me, as well. I love seeing how many forum members out there support us and share in our happiness.

I too got goosebumps and wept with joy for all of you! What a kind and jenerous heart you have Laura. Oliver is definitely my heart bird and I could not imagine life without him and you are right there is no replacement but sure room for more love and heart with the new feather child. I love you guys and this parrotsforum...a place to learn and share....:D

God-willing you'll never have to do anything more than imagine life without Oliver. They are quite long-lived, after all, and I know how deeply you love him! And you're right. There is room in the heart for a new feather child. And I share your love for this Parrot Forum and its wonderful members, Dr. Lisa.

That is a beautiful bird......! name fits perfectly as well. He's a great addition.
Enjoy...those ekkie's are a bundle of joy.

Thank you! Yes, the name Jolly does indeed fit his character. Hahaha! As "bundle of joy" does fit how I feel about my ekkies! Do you have ekkies as well?

Wow, Jolly is a handsome boy! Congratulations, Stephen and family; he will be a beloved pet for years to come.

The back-story is equally wonderful. Laura, your gesture melts my heart!

Thank you, Scott! I very much like the sound of "years to come."

And Laura's gesture melted our hearts as well.

This story made my eyes "leak"

I'm so so happy for you Stephen! Congratulations!

Laura, I knew you had a big heart, but you have amazed me with your act of kindness!

Thank you so much, Amanda.

Wow. I cried with you when Bixby said goodbye, and today i am smiling with you as we say hello to Jolly. I am truly happy for you!

Laura, you have a heart of gold. Thank you for reaching out and giving such a wonderful gift.

Thank you, Ronel. This is why this forum feels so much like family. Crying with me and smiling with me. Who could ask for more?

No actually I don't, but had my eyes on 2 that were lovely at the avian store. However they sold before I could talk it over with my wife and have her take a look with me.
So...I'm still looking, have 5 birds right now, 2 Zons, one Grey, one Senegal one red factor, and lost My major Mitchell a coupe years back that was 68 years old.

Gratz man! He is a great looking eclectus I hope Maya accepts without a fuss! lol

Thanks, John! Yeah, I'm hoping that Maya learns to accept him, too. I think she's still grieving over Bixby, (as am I, but we all process differently) which is why she largely pretends like Jolly doesn't exist. But with time, I think she'll come around.

68 years old! A good life. I'm sorry for your loss. How long was that major mitchell yours?

And as for the possibility of your picking up a pair of ekkies, I may be a wee bit biased, but they are among the most amazing birds!

What am amazing story and a beautiful bird! This is just incredible. Looking forward to all the crazy stories from Jolly :D

This is such an amazing story, so awesome I'm making it my last read before bed, I can go to sleep smiling. Laura what a wonderful and selfless offer, you are amazing. And Stephen, I am so glad to hear Jolly is bringing in some Jolliness and has lifted your hearts. I felt that initial twinge of possible loss this weekend, a feeling I hate so I know this makes the newbie that much sweeter. Now where is the picture of you typing and Jolly perched on your head, lol?

Thank you, Katie! I look forward to sharing those crazy Jolly stories!

What a gorgeous boy, and an even more beautiful gesture of compassion! You should soooo nominate that Jolly green boy for Pet of the Day!

Thank you! Much appreciated!

Awww, thank you, Tracey! The story definitely puts a smile on my face as well.

And yes, I saw that your sweet Venus is going through some health issues at the moment. You and she both have been in my prayers. I'm so glad she's shown some improvement with her medication.

Hahahaha! Considering how much Jolly loves to fly to my head, such a picture shouldn't be very far off.
