Help with Veggies for my GCC

I have a list on the fridge for Spinnaker-- "Likes" and "Dislikes." Just keep trying. So far, my little one hates potatoes and carrots, but loves green beans and snow peas.

Thank you!

If you are bonded with your parrot, one of the fastest ways you can get them to try new greens is to share your meal with them.
Sit down close to their cage with a bowl of julienne vegetables and eat them slowly while watching TV. They will soon come over to investigate what you are eating and will try some too.
Once they get used to the taste, they will happily eat their favorite veggies on their own! :)

Hey! As far as switching your bird over to a mostly pellet diet goes, I did it cold turkey for my Sun Conure. I simply didn't put in seeds and put in all pellets. I hand fed him a few of the pellets. The first day he mostly ate fruit, but by the second day he was a pellet eating machine! He's hooked on them. He loves them!

Also, I use roudybush pellets because they have not added preservatives, sugars or dyes. I've also heard they have a higher fat content. Which is good because he still get's fats without eating a ton of seeds. And that allows me to reserve seeds as rewards for training!

That funny you say this, she is always trying get get on whatever I am eating if I am eating a bowl of cereal she try to get on the rim of the bowl to try what I'm having, I end up compromising a let her sit on my spoon as I eat. I would have to say we are totally bonded she picked me. She seems to do whatever I ask of her with no complaint.

Thank you so much for your advice, what I am mostly curious about is why don't we want the birds eating seed?

The seed that is normally offered in commercial seed mixes is fatty and does not provide all of the vitamins, minerals & other nutrients required by companion birds.....and.....since most companion birds are rather sedentary, seed diets often put on too much weight & develop other health problems.....

You can bet your ass that whatever you are eating, your feathered friend will want. I once tried having two bowls of vegetables - one for me, and one for Aizen. I gave up, because even though the contents were the same, he always wanted mine.

His top favourites, in order of preference:

Thai chillies,
Sweet chillies,
String beans,
Carrot,
Bell peppers,
Broccoli.
Baby sweetcorn.

Of course, every bird is different. ^^

Thank you! Yes everything I do Rory wants to do, it's like have a three year old with wings and can climb. Lol she's a hoot, she wants to inspect and taste everything I eat. Do you know if it's ok to feed her cooked veggies?

Cooked veggies are fine, as long as you've not added salt. Some vegetables, such as potatoes, have to be cooked - although I never feed him such.

At first when mine wouldn't eat veggies we put them in a juicer and made a vegetable drink instead and he loved it!

That's a great idea, although today she did pretty good on her own when I gave her some for her breakfast she seems to like the kale and broccoli. Although I don't know much is actually going in her belly she likes to put things in her mouth and play with them and carry them around then spit them out later.
