garden hose....oh dear! My boy is not a huge fan of water either but he gets a bath at least 5x a week. Once he's wet he really enjoys it, its just the getting there part that is difficult. I did use the hose on him last week when I had his cage outside cleaning it, but he was on top of the cage, not in it, so it was more his choice if he got wet or not. (Not was the choice) He eventually got soaked from the overspray, but wasnt particularly pleased about it. The water temp is much cooler than he is used to.
I suspect he was disciplined in his past life with a squirt bottle..misting is torture for him. I end up terrorizing him by chasing him around the cage so that was an obvious thing to NOT do.
Like many others, I take him into the shower with me. He sits on the shower head until it's his turn and then i bring him down on my arm. Since he doesnt like spray/mist that much I either just run him through quickly to get him wet so he can enjoy it (think jumping into the swimming pool...once you're in its nice, but making the decision to jump is hard!) or I cup my hand and let the water run onto him between my fingers so its less like spray. Either way, once he's wet he relaxes into it and enjoys the bath. I make sure to keep his head as dry as possible so he wont have issues with water up his nose or in his ears. If he wants his head wet its up to him to do that. The kitchen sink bath "should" be the same, but its not. He is more resistant to it, but is learning that its not evil. If he knows its coming I end up chasing him around the floor (i generally lose that game once he makes it under the table and chairs). Either method I cover him with a lightweight kitchen towel to keep him warm immediately after the bath, and to soak up a bit of the water. If its chilly I use the blow dryer on a low setting until the feathers start to fluff a bit--not completely dry, that defeats the purpose of bathing. He LOVES the blow dryer. BTW, he's a plucker so he only has a down coat---your process may differ.
