Parrots
Skittles - male pied cockatiel
Snickers - Female normal grey cockatiel

Rip. Gizmo, my sweet baby
I recently got a baby tiel and she’s been wean screaming a lot, I would just like an estimate of when she will stop, she is already calming down so this is kind of just here to show pictures of her.

I'm far from an expert, but that baby looks way too young to be weaned. Plus.... What is "wean screaming"? Is this baby being force weaned? I would offer baby parrot formula for sure and read up on abundance weaning. How old is this baby? Are you sure they are eating enough? Are you weighing them? How are the droppings?

Your new baby is absolutely adorable!! Congratulations on the new flock member!!! 🥰😁

Sorry photos loaded up better and I got a clearer look, I don't think baby is as young as I thought at first glance, but still I am concerned by "wean screaming"

She basically will just get up on my shoulder and start doing a scream similar to a hungry baby, it usually disappears when I bring her food bowl over to where she is. We did get her checked up by an avian vet who said she was probably still expecting me to get her food for her when she’s hungry instead of finding it. I meant to mention this in the post but she is 15-16 weeks now.

At four months old she should be weaned but baby screaming is pretty common for a couple months after. I base this on a baby cockatiel I got "long ago". He was weaned completely (he ate on his own and I never hand fed him) but for a couple months after I got him he would make that baby crying for food sound. I think he was mostly crying for attention and he got plently of that! I can't recall when it stopped but it did.

Thanks! She’s not doing it as much but I think she just does it to either say “I’m hungry” or “Gimee attention “

She's cute. Baby screaming can last a while. Double check her weights and food amounts to ensure plenty.

My cockatiel also liked to eat out of our mouths- not a good thing to do- but this was long before I knew that and I'm lucky it never harmed him. He did it as an adult. He was an amazing bird. Loved all people, never bit, never went hormonal on me.
