I have two lovebird and am beginning to see a problem

I have two love bird one male one female they had a previous home but were taken to a shelter because the previous owners mistreated them now I own them since November and love them to pieces. recently I’ve noticed that the males feathers have gone missing and I am wonder what could cause this is it himself his mate or something else. It is only the males feathers which are affected the female appears to be perfectly fine. I live on an island that does not have a bird vet so any help is very appreciated.

Oh no, poor guy! Hard to say if he is plucking or if the female is doing it. With how high up on the chin some of the spots are I’d guess maybe the other bird.

I would suggest keeping them in two separate cages side by side for a while to see if it improves. If it does you’ll know the other bird has been plucking him. With the cages close to each other they could still see and talk to one another.
