I lost maggie tonight!!

They're going to run it, it just didn't get done in time to run tonight...

Please don't bite the hand that's helping!!!

Yeah squeaky wheel gets the grease but sometimes it gets a hammer to SHUT IT UP :)

Exactly.

Do your know how many lost pets there are in a city this size? And they are doing a FEATURE on mine... UNLESS someone does something stupid that really pisses off the producers... and makes them look bad!

Please, I appreciate the sentiment, but DON'T!!!

Sorry, we had breaking news, and we had to cut your story. Life sucks, then you die! Didn't appreciate the petition stuff... we told you we'd run it.

I just gave this thread a five star rating because I don't have candles to light the way home for our Maggie. Every time I check for updates I am overwhelmed by all the heartfelt messages and support for one of our members when he needs us most. Stars are usually a symbol of celebration, that will happen too and we will all help Mark celebrate. Until then we'll be right here with you, Mark.

Thank you so much, everyone! You all make this forum the best of the best.

Lots of prayers coming your way! I live in texas, around Houston. If I see a giant macaw, I will definitely call. You WILL get her back, don't loose hope. I know not having Maggie with you is hard, but she will come back, she can't wait to see you again. :)

Allee I don't know how this stuff works, but is it possible to 'temporarily pin' a thread in recent posts? I'm wondering if Christines 'For Maggie' thread should be kept at the top on the off chance someone finds Maggie and then looks to parrot forums / google as a way of working out his/her next steps....

Maybe the story did not run last night because the person who is supposed to see it was not watching TV last night. Everything happens for a reason. Maggie will come home!

Christine's thread about Maggie has been 'stuck', 'pinned' temporarily, so it will stay on top! :)

Nothing again this morning, and it's overcast and drizzly...

I'm going to go do laundry and then check the flea markets where they sell parrots, and distribute flyers to "those people" just for peace of mind.

I had nightmares about that last night.

This is day 8...

Aww Mark, this is so heart wrenching. Have you thought about getting actual signs printed (like the political yard signs?) Also, when you check craigslist, search all of community as well as the For Sale section. I would post in every section possible since many people don't know how to properly search the right areas.

Keep the faith, Mark. The outpouring of hope and love greatly outweigh the horrible pathology of cranks and prank calls.

Stiff upper lip, Mark, we are all rooting for ya.

As an aside, I wonder how many other folks go thru this amount of effort to find lost birds. I know when I lost my Schuyler many many years ago I have to say that while I did put up signs and checked pet shops, no way did I take the extraordinary steps you have taken, ashamedly. Of course this was pre-internet. If you think it's time to expand the concentric circle of signs, notices and other outreaches, my offer still stands.
We all want to see Maggie back with you.

I was wondering if local pet shelters are checked in the area. Someone could be stupid enough (unlikely but possible) to take her to a regular shelter. I am not sure they take time to look through the Craigslist postings.

Keep the faith, Mark! Thinking of you and Maggie and sending good thoughts.

Still here thinking of you and your flock, Mark. I hope that she's found soon and that you can be reunited... I definitely believe that with all of the tremendous effort you have put in that she will be found safe and sound! I certainly think that running that news story will be a huge help in alerting everyone in your area not only about her being lost, but how much you love her and how crucial it is that she's back in your arms.

Notified them the first day. They have signs up at the 3 local shelters as well.

They are the ones who get stray animal calls. If they get called about a parrot... they know.

Went around to the three local flea markets that I know sell birds, and talked to the people who are selling birds there. Left flyers. Also let the administration know.

One of the easiest ways to dump a bird is a vendor at a flea market. If someone walks in with a greenwing, and says what will you give me for this...

THEY KNOW IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS MY BIRD IS MISSING, AND I'M WILLING TO BUY HER BACK. IF SOMEONE OFFERS HER UP. GET HER BACK!!!

It's actually plausible. So, if someone shows up with her at the flea market, I'll know immediately. If someone tries to sell her on Craig's list, I'll know immediately.

Someone who finds her in their yard IS NOT going to know how to handle her or take care of her. They're going to try to offload her, especially if they try and stick her in a cage... AND SHE STARTS THROWING MACAW TANTRUMS...

She hasn't been caged in about a decade, so... yeah... not willingly she wouldn't, and not for long. And the neighbors would know she's there.

And as long as I was there, I bought Kiwi a new toy... she already destroyed her entire selection of wood toys. I haven't had time to make more.

About that point the reward money would start looking real good... especially after the ksat feature airs.

EVERYTHING HUMANLY POSSIBLE...
