I lost maggie tonight!!

Hopefully the vet's regret over not contacting you right away will encourage her to get you the log info quickly. With current technology it should be retrievable in minutes.

You'd think, but I still don't have it.

I gotta think that if this person called the Vet, then they are looking to return her....so we need to think like this person.

If you were older or maybe just not into facebook, CL, etc,...what do you do?

We know that they called the closest vet.....how about the closest police station? The closest petsmart?

Who/Where else would a person that found a bird look to find the owner?

How about a short add in the paper? Old people love penny savers...(it is known)

I know, and I'm racking my brain on this... why haven't you found me yet.

Ad is up at the local petsmart.

Ad is in the paper.

Police have a flyer, but don't take these types of reports.

Animal control has a flyer.

The shelters have a flyer.

The local bird club has a flyer.

Every vet in San Antonio has a flyer.

The zoo has a flyer.

SeaWorld has a flyer.

It's on the local neighborhood phone apps... for lost pets. For the enclave, adams hill, heritage, el sendero, and the other duck pond subdivision, I can't recall the name of it.

You've got the bases covered...but I'm just wondering where else someone that is not plugged in would turn to find you....

How about flyers at local grocery stores and/or bars?

Nope. They don't have lost and found boards.

Don't really have many bars around here. Just restaurants. It's up at the ones that would put them up, plus the local starbucks, and the liquor store.

And the local parks...

I'VE HANDED OUT 700 FLYERS SO FAR!!!

Good news. The vet has agreed to contact the phone provider and get me the call logs for Saturday.

WHAT SEEMS TO ME TO BE A GOOD IDEA IS SOME SORT OF AN AFTER MARKET OPEN BAND THAT HAS AN ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER ON IT.

And that is entirely correct. I stopped freeflying for the longest time, for fear of something like this... and now I regret ever going back to it...

My free flighted birds love it, but that hardly seems worth it to me now...

I've done a fair amount of kicking myself...

Don't kick yourself regardless of the outcome, b/c you were following your heart in the birds best most intrinsic nature.

You've shown great patience and composure. Personally this kind of act makes me a vengeful person.

The reunion you will soon have with her will be awesome!

Well, Mark. I must say you have thought about pretty much everything! The couple of things you hadn't thought about were so kindly brought up by members of the forum. I know we are all feeling helpless in this ordeal, but do take comfort in knowing that you gave it your all and left no stone unturned. This is not someone looking for a lost "pet", but rather what someone who lost a child would do. Your love for Maggie is blinding (in a good way of course:) and I sure hope with all my heart that you get her back soon. At least we are fairly certain that someone has her and that is a good thing because she isn't out in the elements and there is likely no imminent danger to her...now to connect. I am trying my best to look for the positives:)

Just a thought but lots of older folk in Ireland play Bingo...do older folk in Texas play Bingo if so how about asking them to make an announcement at these venues and give them a poster to put up. Im still hoping you get that number soon from the vet and that it leads you to Maggie and her safe return.

And another golden opportunity slips through my fingers...

The vet has an old tech phone system/plan. It only tracks OUTGOING calls. Not incoming. Don't have it. Can't get it. This lead has now officially gone cold.

Someone is out there. They're trying to find the owner. Maybe not that hard...

Where would you take a bird if you didn't have the facilities to house it? Animal control around here does not take birds.

Do you have any wildlife refuges? When you ask where I would take a bird if an animal shelter wouldn't, that is where I would try.

Yeah you don't have to live close to Mark to put it on FB> That was done within 24 hours. Grace went there and passed out some flyers . Others have place it on there personal Blog .

I guess what I thought was this....ever see an advertisement in your feed? Those are paid for ads, not just a share....they are not expensive and they hit a lot of people instantly especially if they have any animal interest at all.... Just might hit more people

I haven't kept as up to speed with every detail you've posted, but is there ZERO hope in getting this woman to give up any more info that you feel or know she has? Do you feel you knows more info that leads directly to where the bird is or was a week ago?

Well they don't NORMALLY take them here Either. BUT that is just how I got BB. Control took him THEN took him to a VET No avian here. Vet wanted to get rid of him FAST They are not able or want to deal with birds. So don't limit yourself to just Avian .

Just keep doing what you are Mark. Telephone Elect / Poles Staple Flyers on them

If one vet got a call, maybe some of the other vets got a call that same day?

I know I'm grasping at straws, but maybe just a quick call to the ones nearest the one that got the call might boost some employees memory of a phone call that came in when they were super busy and just didn't have time to stop and listen to what the caller was asking?

It is entirely possible during a busy time that the employee answering the phone could have thought the person on the phone was asking to bring their big red bird in to be seen, not that they found someone else's big red bird and were looking for the owner.

Grasping for straws here. Perhaps ask animal control where they would send someone who came in with or called about turning in a bird. I know they are watching for Maggie, but if she had turned up and they didn't know you were looking for her, how would they have advised the person? They may have a contact in the avian world that you aren't yet aware of. Could end up being someone you've already connected with, or could be someone new. It might be worth a phone call, if you haven't already done it.

Yes we do, and the lady that runs it is a friend of mine. (I helped her with her macaw...) she knows already.

If you haven't already, it's time to have some yard signs printed up and place them at every major intersection. Full color, plastic signs.

I backdoored that one through the breeders, and the breeder websites... found the person she sold the greenwing too... who didn't appreciate being called a bird mill, and most especially didn't like the "breeding birds to death." comment made to my daughter... IT IS BLOWING UP the breeder sites, and now everyone knows who this woman is, and what she's doing...

No one will do business with her after this. She's DONE!

That bird had a band. It isn't Maggie.

I keep checking back hoping for good news. She's safe. Someone has her. I hope you're close to them finding you.

I would check the local shelters yet again. I would ask if any of them were getting a call similar to the vet's call.
I just can't imagine how someone who never handled a bird would be able to keep a big Macaw.
I am sure they are looking for the owner. This is just CRAZY!!!
