I lost maggie tonight!!

The vet got a call about a big red bird that landed in someone's yard that just waddled up to them... and the person wanted to know IF anyone had reported a lost bird recently because they wanted to find the owner...
.

Must be some older people without the internet or something.....!!!????
Couldn't they just go to Craigslist??????
How frustrating! With all the effort to do everything possible for people to be able to see Maggie on WWW, just a phone call to the vet????!!!!!!

I say that same thing about ten times an hour. Check Craig's list and she's home.

The Georgetown lead is a good one. I don't have anything productive to say about such a worthless person as the "rescue" woman except that you don't need her to locate this breeder. You have lots of resources and a locale.

Could some pressure be put on the vet who handed Maggie over to the rescue...I dont understand why the vet didnt contact you instead of sending Maggie to this rescue...surely he scanned her chip...if so why did he not phone the owner directly. Could pressure be put on him/her so that in turn this vet might put pressure on this rescue lady to give the info regarding Maggies present location...just a thought in case you hadnt already thought of going this route ...hope you get good news soon .... praying for Maggies safe return

That isn't what happened... that's my imagination running amuck...

The vet got a call about a big red bird that landed in someone's yard that just waddled up to them... and the person wanted to know IF anyone had reported a lost bird recently because they wanted to find the owner...

WELL... the person who took that call, DIDN'T FRIGGIN LOOK, and told them they don't do birds there... even though I contacted them the first day... AND WHAT HURTS IS SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN HOME LAST NIGHT, INSTEAD OF STILL WONDERING WILL THESE PEOPLE FIND ME AND GIVE HER BACK...

In the meantime, the "rescue" lady aggressively goes after any and all reports of people finding expensive birds... (so she can flip them for drug money!) SO I AM CLIMBING THE WALLS AND JUMP OUT OF MY SKIN EVERY TIME THE PHONE RINGS - AGAIN...

Hopefully your contact with this aviary will bear fruit and please God you will find Maggie safe and sound and be able to bring her home soon...so sorry you and your family and poor Maggie are going through all this. I hope you get good news soon

Mark - can you contact the news again to do an update? Both about the vets call and the flipper. Maybe even do a NewsOnYourSide type story about the flipper and what has been going on with the email to your daughter highlighted? That may put enough pressure on her to get the info out of her. Or possibly the breeder may see the story and contact you...

I checked online for your area for news on your side. Maybe this, News4?

I've followed the story from the beginning; meeting mark, maggie, and sarah last summer. Plus being just an hour and a half away, this really hits home. I've just texted my vet to ask if she's heard of anything, the exotic vet circle is small. Hopefully we'll hear some good news soon regardless.

I am not sure it will work, but what if we all contact this "rescue" asking her to release the breeder info. If there are 30-60 of us, maybe she will see that Mark is NOT ALONE and how public this case is. Maybe she will smell the trouble and give the information.
Of course we shouldn't do anything without Mark's permission and he is the one that should tell us what to write...........

Something like...... "We collectively .......blah, blah..... otherwise we determined collectively take serious actions against you...... blah, blah.
Of course it is not needed if Mark found the breeder already, which I hope happened.

I am not fairly sure that the bird this lady sold was not Maggie...

However, I am also fairly sure that the vet call bird, YESTERDAY, was Maggie.

I couldn't get a phone log.

That was my best chance ever of getting them back.

Good news, someone has her, and they are looking for their owner.

Bad news, the vet told them no one reported a missing bird...

GGGGGAAAAAAHHHH!!!

I bumped the Craig's list ads to the top. Sent out a fresh batch of fliers and called the local vets again. (Most were closed.)

I work two jobs now, so I got really behind on Maggie updates. Mark I just keep praying for you and your daughter and for Maggie's safe return. I just wish there was more I could do. Sending you feathered hugs.

I am confused, the vet called you yesterday, but when did this person (who doesn't know internet exists) called the vet? Was it yesterday also?
She couldn't flip so quickly.....??!!
And why would the vet call YOU a week later (if that's the case)......, how would they even remember someone called.......??????

Did you talk to the vet themselves? I know my vet would be more than willing to call the phone company or check their caller ID.

Called them twice. Went down there twice. Emailed them on top of it.

Haven't given up yet... That's the best lead I've had yet.

I'm so sorry! I have nothing helpful to add I just want to offer my support. I can't imagine what this is like and I'm willing to help flood them with phone calls and emails of needed. Lol. But seriously anything we can do to help.

Not sure how things in the states works, but is there any way the phone company can assist if you give them date and aproximate time of day of the call the vet received? Possible call records from their side?

Mom to Charlie and Milo

What made you think the bird the vet has is Maggie? Did the vet call you personally or how'd you find out?
I think I've missed something... (i've read from a few pages back from where I left off yesterday)

The vet doesn't have her.

Someone in the same area where Maggie was lost reported finding a big red bird that just landed in their yard that just waddled up to them... and wanted to know if anyone had reported losing a "big red bird." They're trying to find the owner... (THAT'S THE GOOD NEWS. BEST NEWS YET, I THINK!)

The vet is located near the duck pond area where she was lost. SAME ZIP CODE, BOARDERS THE SAME BASIC ROADWAY. So, that makes it twice as plausible.

How many lost big red birds can there be in San Antonio?!

Best lead I've had yet!

BUT... WE DIDN'T GET A NAME OR NUMBER.

Sorry! We'll let you know if they call back.

Why would they call back if you already told them no one was looking for her?!

I mean if they had just gotten a name and a number, she would have been home Saturday night.

Now, we're still up in the air as to whether or not they find me.

GGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!

We are so close, and yet still a mile away... And this is just so frustrating.

Okay, who in San Antonio is close to Mark? Since Mark is not on Facebook, can you use that lost poster with phone number and create an advertisement? It will pop up everywhere and someone can click on it to get to Mark and Sarah's info. You may have to create a quick FB page but that would be quick. I know we can't talk amounts but I can reimburse anyone who does this, it's cheap.

I think Most sites have been covered.

Yeah you don't have to live close to Mark to put it on FB> That was done within 24 hours. Grace went there and passed out some flyers . Others have place it on there personal Blog .

Well I missed mark and the fliers I had a hard time finding the place but I did go look and talk to people.
