I lost maggie tonight!!

Oh Mark, so very sorry you and Maggie are going through this horrendous period of separation. Just seeing this now and hope you are reunited without delay.

The local sighting seems to imply Maggie is staying in the area. Wonder if a massive flyer campaign delivered to every home and business in the area will help?

Might local humane societies/shelters or even veterinarians be willing to send an email blast to customers in the area?

Thinking hopeful thoughts your way, but it is critical you take care of yourself to enable continued searching. Easier said than done, my friend.

Already did the massive flyer campaign, and she's on the neighborhood app, plus about 9,000 phone calls. I've walked every neighborhood on Adams Hill. I've walked every tree line and creek on Adams Hill. I go back twice a day.

As long as she remains in the area the chances are good that I'll get her back.

Mark, here, play those when you go out next time. FULL BLAST!!

Take some Bluetooth speakers or something and give it a try!! Glad to hear she's still okay and in the area!

Thanks Wendy those will be very helpful.

Here are some Amazon clips, in case she'd respond to those since she's familiar with them, too.

Stay strong. I am so glad she is close and so many people are behind you.

This is the best I was able to do as for Ripley sounding off, Mark. I hope it will be enough.

First one is typical Ripley sounds....and some talking:

And here is screams a few times, too:

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten any more leads for you either, but did think of an idea. If she's hanging around the same area, I would try putting up some game cams. Even putting up one might be all you need. That would be 24/7 surveillance, tell you the times she's in the area and could give you a better idea of when to be there waiting for her. Good ones can be a bit pricey, but if it's something you'd like to try, I'd go to Bass Pro, tell them what's going on and see if they'll "rent" you one.

Actually, I'll see if my dad still has some at home. They live in Seguin, but he's retired, so if he does, I'll make him meet you somewhere in San Antonio :D

Mark I know you have your hands full and tried everything but one more suggestion :) Print out a google map and pin the places she has been spotted or heard. You may see a pattern / area she is staying in.

I've actually been keeping a map with a search radius.

Question is, are these legitimate sightings, or people who are well intentioned but are calling me any time they see the shadow of a turkey vulture overhead.

One of the calls yesterday turned out to be a woodpecker.

BUT YOU'VE STILL GOT TO FOLLOW UP THE LEADS.

SeaWorld got a call this morning asking if they had lost a macaw. I followed up on that one as well even though it's not in the Adams Hill area, it is in the area where she could be.

That's why you need all those eyes. You never really know 100% if you're looking in the right place. Then again, if this turns out like last time, I'll find someone else's lost macaw while I'm out looking for Maggie...

Late to see this as I am out of the states right now, but I'm really pulling for you buddy. Like your updates say, she's close and she's alive...and that's a lot of good news.

I wish I was close enough to help you look, and I am blown away with all the support pouring out from this site.

Stay strong, think positive!

If you need $$ for more mass callings or flyers send me a pm.

Second sighting of the Seaworld bird at Culebra and Talley road. We know it's a macaw. We don't know the color. Anyone else lose a big mac around here?!

Multiple sightings over the past two days (3) of a bird that looked like Maggie in the Pue Road area of Adams Hill. There have now been 7 people that have claimed to have seen her in the Adams Hill area, not counting the "woodpecker guy" of course.

Culebra and Talley seem a bit far from the place where Maggie was lost. But it was REALLY windy the other day, so I suppose it's possible.

How far "as the macaw flies" is it?

Oh Mark! I've only just seen your sad, sad story (been away, tending to family stuff among other things). I'm SO sorry this has happened to you! If you recall, my Barney flew off just before Christmas a couple of years ago and was gone for three whole weeks. It was horrible, so I can truly imagine how you're feeling.

The first thing is: DO NOT give up! Birds have been lost for long periods and then turned up back at home through weird and wonderful means.

The second and most important thing is: DO NOT underestimate the distance Maggie could fly. Barney was found 10km away from home after a period of high winds and devastating electrical storms. Other birds have flown even farther. Maggie is a big strong bird and an efficient flyer: she could conceivably travel a great distance, even in one day.

So the third thing is: make SURE you have advertising far and wide about Maggie. We got Barney back because a woman happened to see our ad on a lost pets site. She recognised the sounds he made from my description and took the chance that he might be my bird, despite the great distance from home. She was right! As soon as I asked Barney to do his bead-in-the-cup trick, we all knew he was our boy.

Sending warmest wishes to you, Mark, and praying for Maggie's safe return. XX

It's 13 miles from where she was lost to the point of the Seaworld sighting, and 4 miles from where she was lost to the point of the Adams Hill sighting.

Adams Hill just seems more plausible to me at the moment.

I would give both legitimate weight.

She's not an average house pet bird. You do free fly her. She is big and strong. She may have covered way more territory than you estimate.

Plus it's been super windy, so that makes it possible. PLUS one of the two people who sighted that macaw actually works with the macaws at Seaworld, and can actually tell the difference between a macaw and a woodpecker... :p

So, I give it some credence, but there are also known feral macaws around here as well.

There is essentially only one subdivision out there, and I'm going out again at first light to that subdivision and going to saturate that area with flyers.

I walked BOTH today. I coverered around 14 miles on foot IN ADDITION to putting in half a day at work...

To say I am exhausted it understating it by about half a ton...

I've probably walked 50 miles since Saturday evening...

After tomorrow, I'm not going to go walking the neighborhoods anymore without a solid lead to go on.

These wild goose chases are killing me. I'm aging in dog years...

I'm about a month removed from walking pneumonia.

I don't need that again!

The word is spent... but I HAVE TO get Maggie back!!!

Failure is not an option!!!

And I still believe she's too big, and too different from local birds, not to turn up and attract attention.

Still praying for you man. Hope you find her soon.

Oh Mark, I just got back to the forum being away for a long time and found THIS. I was reading most of all 26 pages hoping to see her back at the last page........ :(
Maybe it's not a great idea but did you try any megaphones like bullhorns or something. Just calling her name in the vicinity where people spotted her. It might sound different for her I guess, but they are smart, she might recognize your voice.
We had a blue head pionus lost in my area a few days ago. She was found today finally.
Hope she is back soon!
